When you hate him at first.
You were currently living in an apartment with your elder brother and twin sister. Returning from college, you stepped into the living room to find it packed with unfamiliar faces. Including your brother, there were six guys in total. Your eyes widened, and you gulped as they all turned to look at you.
Before you could retreat to your room, your brother, Jake, called out to you. Reluctantly, you approached. Standing next to your twin sister, Y/T/N, was a guy who immediately caught your eye—Heeseung. He was, undeniably, handsome with his striking red hair and confident aura.
"Hey, this is my sister," Jake introduced, gesturing toward you. "Guys, meet Y/N."
One by one, Jake introduced the six guys. When it was Heeseung's turn, he gave you a small nod, his eyes sparkling with mischief.
"Hey," you said, trying to sound casual. Jake explained that they were here for band practice and that these sessions would continue for about a month in preparation for a big gig.
You nodded politely before turning to leave, your interest already waning. You headed to the shared room you had with Y/T/N, seeking the comfort of your side filled with books and sketchpads. Settling on your bed, you picked up your favorite book, hoping to escape into its familiar world.
Your peace was short-lived. The door creaked open, and you looked up to see Heeseung sauntering in, hands in his pockets, exuding an effortless cool in his leather jacket.
"Why are you here?" you asked, not bothering to hide your annoyance.
He held up his hands in mock defense, a teasing smile on his lips. "Is that how you treat guests?"
You raised an eyebrow. "Is this how you treat the people who actually live here?"
He shrugged and sat down on the empty space on your bed. "Just thought I'd say hi. I'm Heeseung."
"I know," you replied, trying to ignore how attractive he looked up close.
He smirked, noticing your lingering gaze. "Done staring?"
You immediately looked away, feeling your cheeks heat up. "Why are you really here?"
"Your sister was bothering me," he said, leaning back. "Thought I'd escape for a bit."
"She was flirting with you," you pointed out, feeling a twinge of irritation. "Clearly"
"Can you blame her?" Heeseung grinned, his confidence unshakable.
You rolled your eyes. "You're so cocky."
"And you're so short," he teased, glancing at your smaller stature compared to his.
"No wonder Y/T/N likes you," you shot back. "She only falls for self-absorbed and cocky delinquents."
With that, you left the room, heading towards the kitchen for a glass of orange juice. As you sipped your drink, you could hear the band starting their practice. Despite yourself, you couldn't help but be impressed by their sound. Heeseung, in particular, caught your eye every now and then, making your heart race in a way you didn't want to admit.
Y/T/N found you later, a smug look on her face. "Heeseung wants me, not you, so stop looking at him and stay away."
You held up your hands in mock surrender. "He's all yours. I don't want him."
But later that night, as you were sketching alone in the living room, Heeseung walked in again. The apartment was quiet, the band having left for the night.
"Looks like it's just us," he remarked, sitting next to you without asking.
You sighed, putting down your pencil. "What do you want now?"
"Maybe I just like being around you," he said, his tone softer than before.
"Why are you so defensive around me?" he asked, genuinely curious.
You met his gaze, unsure of what to say. "Maybe because I don't like guys who think they can charm their way into everyone's hearts."
"Maybe you're right," he admitted, surprising you. "But maybe there's more to me than that."
The sincerity in his eyes made you pause. "Why do you care what I think?"
"Because you're interesting," he said simply. "And I think there's more to you too."
Silence stretched between you, filled with unspoken tension. Then, in a move that shocked you both, Heeseung leaned in and kissed you. It was soft, tentative, and completely unexpected. But you found yourself kissing him back, unable to resist the pull.
When he pulled away, you were both breathless. "Maybe you're not so bad," you admitted, a small smile tugging at your lips.
Heeseung grinned. "Maybe we could start over?"
You nodded, feeling a strange warmth in your chest. "Maybe."
