A truck rumbled into Littleroot Town, a tiny speck on Hoenn's map, so obscure that even neighboring towns were unaware of its existence. With a hiss, the brakes engaged near a very small pink house, the new home for its passenger May Crawford, an adventurous 14-year-old girl from Violet city, Johto. As the carriage door swung open, she shielded her blue eyes against the sudden blaze of sunlight after hours in pitch darkness during the drive.

"Ah, so bright," May muttered, stepping out onto the gravel like path as the truck swiftly departed, leaving her beside the diminutive pink home.

Peering cautiously through her fingers, May let her eyes adjust, eager to inspect her new house. The house was smaller than what she expected, especially for a gym leader's residence like her father's, and the pink hue was also surprising.

Suddenly, the front door burst open, startling May. A familiar face greeted her, "Good morning, May!"

"Good morning, Mom!" May exclaimed, rushing to embrace her mother, Amelia Crawford.

After a brief hug, May hurried toward the house, noticing Machokes and Vigoroths moving their luggage. "Shouldn't the luggage have been moved before I arrived?" she asked, confused.

"Oh, sweetie, I didn't expect you so soon. I thought you'd arrive no earlier than 6 PM, but it's remarkable how fast trucks are now. Let's check out the house," Amelia replied.

Taking May's hand, Amelia led her through the cozy interior. Yet, something felt amiss during the tour. "Hey, where's Dad shouldn't he be here?" May interrupted, it has been years since May personally meet with her father, Norman Crawford, most of the time she actually got to see him were in televised pokemon battles, which was how she got her interest in batteling, but she wanted to finally meet him person since years

"He's at Petalburg Gym, dear. Being a gym leader keeps him quite busy, so he couldn't wait for you," Amelia explained.

"Okay, then I'll head to Petalburg. It doesn't seem far on the map," May said eagerly, poised to meet him in person after years of admiration from afar. But Amelia gently held her back.

"No dear, you have something else to do first," Amelia insisted.

"But, Mom, I could do that later-"

"No buts. You're doing it now," Amelia declared firmly.

"Fine, what is that something I have to do first," May huffed, reluctantly agreeing. "I'll do whatever it is."

"You need to go to your room and set the clock to 3:45, the current time," Amelia instructed, finally releasing May's hand.

Grumbling to herself, May walked to her bed room, annoyed at the mundane choure. Compared to her spacious room back in Johto, the bedroom was very empty, furnished only with a bed, a computer, and also some lamp.

Once the task was done, May dashed downstairs, eager to move on to Petalburg. Yet again, Amelia intercepted her.

"I know why you're in a rush," Amelia said sternly. "But it's dangerous to go outside without a Pokémon."
