I just got accepted into Ashwood University on scholarship. I'd been working so hard for it ever since I got into highschool that I felt I'd burst with joy when I held the letter. I know it's so far from home but I really need the space to grow my mind and that's why I applied for a scholarship in Ashwood University, Walla Walla, Washington.

A lot of seniors are going to schools here in Seattle and I don't want to risk being with them in the same class, they will only continue to mock me and I won't get to live a social life at all.

My parents are separated and I live with my Colombian mom, Zoraida Garcia, in Seattle. While my Dad, Aurelio Vallejo, lives in Aguascalientes, Mexico. Yes I'm Mexican and I've never been there but I plan to... just not now.

Today is moving day, luckily my flight tickets are also covered by the scholarship so my parents didn't have to pay a dime, although Dad would've payed for whatever expenses I had, Mom would never agree to it.
Every necessary thing I needed had been payed for by the school, all I needed were my clothes, laptop and ofcourse my novels. The school is really amazing, at least from pictures I've seen and stories I've heard and the thousands of researches I've done, it's a small liberal arts University in a small picturesque town in Walla Walla.

"You've got everything you need mi chiqui?", my Mom asked, walking around the car and slipping her hand through mine.

"I do Mom", I smile and rub her shoulder warmly with my free hand.

"And you're sure you don't need me to go with you? I still wonder why you decided to go to a school that is over 5 hours away mi'ja", she said reasonably.

"You make it sound so bad, it's 5 hours only when you're on the road. You won't have need for the road when there are planes everywhere ", I replied her with a smile.

"Still over four hours, no difference. It's not too late to change your mind sweety", she gives me one of her famous convincing smiles but this time it won't work and she knows it.

"I love you honey and if there's anything you need at any point you know I'm just a call away", with that she hugs me with a kiss to my cheek and I hug her right back.

"I love you too mum", we said our goodbyes and I got into the cab taking me to the airport.
Ashwood University here I come.
