It's the year 2523. Humanity has achieved space travel well till the asteroid belt. It's still unclear how they manage to land on the gaseous surface of Jupiter. But this story takes place in Mars, where humanity had settled in close the poles. It's still unclear as to how we managed this but the only thing I remember is waking up on day 23 earth years ago in an unfamiliar house in this red planet.
All the memories I have, have been on this red surface. I was told that they had to perform a surgery that messed up our memories, but the "real cause" was to help us breathe on Mars. Unlike the love that could have been found on Earth abundantly, Mars was isolated. The only place where I have read about the Earth was in History class. Out of all the fantastic traditions that they could have brought to Mars, they just had to bring that. Well now that you have a decent idea of what my life looks like, here's the story for which you have been waiting.
" The sun was setting but before it did I wanted to make a wish for which I had waited so long."
Today was the 3rd Tuesday of Quattordicesimo. The year on Mars is roughly two times longer than a year on Earth, so instead of coming up with new names, they just named the months after Italian numbers. However, we still count years as per the Earth, hence E.Y. instead of C.E. or A.D. . It is said that if you make a wish to the Sun god on the 3rd Tuesday of the month you were born in, it will come true. I waited 2 E.Y. for this day and I was not going to let it go.
" I made my wish for a girlfriend as beautiful as a star, whose black hair resembled a starry night's sky and whose skin was as pale as their white light. I slept peacefully that day, knowing I have gotten myself a stunning girlfriend. As days past by, I hadn't seen any signs yet."
