Axiom's Pov:

Receiving this huge project after failing the nine projects on different planets wasn't easy for me. I thought while controlling the main gear of the massive spaceship.

"Ah! It's getting hot!"

Probably, I entered Earth's atmosphere. How do people live here at such a high temperature? My planet, Zalax, has a very low temperature, and I am used to it, but Earth's temperature would burn me.

I couldn't shake the disappointed look on Mama's face when I received the project on stage. Papa was trying to ease the tension, but her facial expression clearly stated that I would fail this project, too.

I came out of my thoughts, focusing on landing on Earth safely. I pulled the gear to stop as I entered the troposphere, but it wasn't working. I pushed the stop button multiple times, but all in vain. Nothing was working.

"I can't fail this project!" I gasped in panic. "I promised Mama I would complete it at all costs."

The spaceship flipped 180 degrees, and my head hit the roof hard. "Ouch!" I groaned in pain. The spaceship started spinning, and so did I. I hit my head, arms, and legs at many points. I started feeling worse, and my mind was reeling back to the thoughts of how I got this project out of luck.

Flashback:

The classroom was decorated with pictures of outer planets, and banana milk was placed on each student's desk. I was sitting on my seat, clasping my hands together and waiting patiently for the teacher to say something.

"The Project of Mars goes to Norex!"

There was a huge applause for our nerdy boy who received the project with a grin. I bit my nails, unable to calm my racing heart.

"The next project, which is the project of Venus, goes to Marithane!"

I was sweating as the teacher was going to the scariest planet. I had failed the last nine projects. The next name was mine, and only one planet was left.

"The project of Earth goes to" I placed a hand over my heart, which was fighting to get out of my ribcage, "Axiom!!!"

Oh no! I never wanted to go to a scary planet like Earth, where people spread a lot of pollution. I wanted to go to Neptune, but I already failed the last project on it.

The class fell silent, and there was no applause as I got up from my seat. I walked to the stage with jerky movements. I could hear the whispers and laughs of my classmates. They were laughing at me as if I didn't deserve this project. I overheard this line: "She got this project out of luck!"

I received the locket from my master, who has always supported me. He made me wear the locket, and I turned back to look at the audience. There was my mom clenching her jaw. Her eyes contained the silent expectation to complete this project. My father was smiling at me awkwardly. He knew I am useless.

"All the best, Axiom!"

I turned as my master's words hit me harder; I almost cried. I have to complete this project at any cost.

End of Flashback

Out of nowhere, my head hit the front surface of my spaceship as if it hit a hard surface. And there was a loud 'bang'. I was feeling suffocated, and my body was burning. Everything went blank for me.

With a little more difficulty, I dragged myself out of my spaceship. My skin was burning there, and I couldn't breathe inside. I could see the pleasant sky. There were many stars in the evening sky.

I was so immersed that I didn't realise my spaceship had crashed in an isolated place on Earth, which looked like dense forest. Earth is a terrible place for me because I have never felt this restless and anxious before.

I had to go to the city area to complete my project, but I was trembling with each step I took. At a distance, when I saw some humans running in a particular direction, my heart thumped, and my locket started shining brightly, which I was wearing around my neck.

I walked in that direction, although all I wanted was to run away. I knew there would be some mess going on, but my curious mind forced me to see what was happening.

I covered my locket with my clothes. I was already wearing a long coat and top with jeans. The purple scales always get on my nerves. If humans come to I am an alien, they will perform 999 tests on my little body. The thought was enough to give me shivers.

I clasped my hands around my chest and kept walking. There was noise, and many guys and girls were running to the left side.

"What's going on?"

I asked a teenage boy who furrowed his brows and looked at me from head to toe. What? Does he get to know I am...?

I learned the language of humans a few days ago.

He waved in that direction. "Near the market." He started running, "Huntington School!!! Hurry!!!"

He ran away, leaving me confused. I scratched the back of my neck and held my locket. It was still shining. I decided to follow my instinct and go in their direction.

With hesitant steps, I walked to the market. Some pushed me and I got out of balance. Thankfully, I didn't fall and managed my long coat. Humans are so impatient.

The fear was increasing with each second. This was all happening because I had landed on Earth. Huh! What to do? There was no option but to go there.

As I managed to get myself out of the crowd, I raised my head only to see a young boy standing on the rooftop of a tall building. My stomach churned with an uneasy feeling, seeing the people making videos as if something entertaining was happening there. That's why I waited.

The sound of cheers and shouts increased. I rubbed my palms, which were getting wet. All of a sudden!

*Bang*

"I am chasing the dawn of appreciation, but fear makes the horizon slip further away."
