Chapter One: High School Begins
Winter POV
I saw my mom's best friends drop their daughters off and waved at them.
"Winter! Meet us at the fountain!" Tara called, waving back.
"Ok!" I shouted "Bye Mom, love you!" I slammed the car door shut and then ran off.
"Remember, bring your friends over this afternoon!" I heard my mom call out.
"Ok!" I call back.
"Winter! Over here!" I heard my friends call all at once.
I spotted them and rushed over, but a trio on skate boards ran into me.
"Hey watch it! You're in the way!" the trio all yelled when they fell onto me.
I fell, the trio on top of me. One in particular landed his face in my boobs. I screamed and punched the offender in the nose. Which had him knocked out on the ground. The other two were going crazy, alternating from worry for their friend and curse words for me. Then my friends appeared at my side.
"OMG! Winter are you ok?" Harper gasped, helping me up.
"Yeah... I'm ok..." I rubbed the sore spot on my eblow.
"Come on, we're about to be late!" Cathrine gasped, pointing at her ever present watch.
"Yeah, let's go!" Iris ran off and we followed laughing, forgetting the now super pissed trio.
Unknown POV
"Derek! Are you ok man? That chick was crazy!" one boy said angrily.
"We should totally get her back!" said the second boy.
They went on and on while the boy who actually got it sat there, quiet. Then after awhile, he spoke.
"No way. This girl is mine." And his friends smiled at his evil smirk.
Harper POV
"Winter, are you're sure you're ok? You did fall awfully hard..." I said, touching Winter's red elbow.
"Ow! Harper, that hurt!" Winter jerked away, hitting the same elbow again, this time against the wall of lockers.
"Ha ha ha! Winter, you're such a clutz!" Iris laughed at her pain.
"Iris, that's not funny! She's hurt." I scolded.
"Guys! The classes are posted!" Tara waved them over to the bulletin board.
We weaved our way to our friend and searched for our names. Luckily we all ended up in Mr. James' class. We all sqealed and ran to our new home room.
The beel rang just as we slid into our seats. Mr. James gave us a stern look, but moved on to tress late arivals. Unluckily, that trio from before walked in, completely ignoring the red faced teacher. I looked at Winter and saw she was busy doodling on her note book cover. I nudged her and when she looked at me, I nodded towards the approaching trio.
Winter gasped, then we both looked at the empty seat next to her. We both shared a look and then I looked back at the calm Mr. James. I heard a groan and cut my eyes to Winter. The poor girl had her head down and I could see why. The boy that she had punched in the face was sittiing nexted to her. The poor dear.
Iris POV
School is soooooooo boring! I thought as I twirlled my pencil in my hand. I looked around the room as Mr. James droned on about some kind of math dohicky. I noticed Winter shying from the guy she punched - what a punch that was! I frowned at his attempts of flirting. He was up to something that's for sure... I made a mental note to comfront him later.
I turned my focus to the goody-two-shoes, Cathrine. She sat right beside me, so I could easily see she was scribbling every word the boring man at the front of the class was saying. I sighed and poked her. She didn't even register the poke, so I did it again. Still no response. I poked again, this time twice. Finally after what seem like forever, she responded. She gave me a glare. Aw... I felt the love.
Then I spotted Harper writing in her red note book, meaning her poetry book. Her poetry was good enough to be published, but she was too much of a scardy cat to get them published. One of these days I would just steal the book and mail the entire thing to a publishing house.
Tara was across the aisle from me so I craned my neck to see her paper. It was a faery girl that looked a lot like the five of us. I smiled at that and waved at her. To bad I caught Mr. James' attention instead.
"Ms. Donavon! Is there something you'd like to add to my lecture?" He raised his right eye brow mockingly.
"Not at all..." I grumbled, sliding down into my seat.
"Then please..." he sighed as if disappointed, "...be quite so others can focus."
The dumb trio busted a gut and the other students quietly snickered. I glared at the offending teacher and huffed unhappily.
Stupid teacher...... I grummbled.
Cathrine POV
Iris was an idiot. It was only the first day, but already she was getting into trouble. I shook my head, sighing. I quickly wrote my notes and ignored my annoying seat mate, who as I speak is sulking nd mummbling about a "stupid and mean butthead". I could only assume she ment Mr. James. I smirked at her childishness and then totally focused on my notes. Mr. James talked fast and erased the board even faster. Thank god I'm a fast writer.
Tara POV
I tuned out the teacher, focused on my drawing. It had came to me when I saw everyone get out of their moms' cars. It took me all of my self restraint not to plop down on the side walk and pull out my sketch pad. As soon as I slid into a seat, my hand was sketching the rough outline of my new creation. I bit my bottom lip as I focused on the wings' outline. I began to mummble about the lines and shading. It was already picture in my head, now I only had to put it on paper.
".............. Ms. Jackson! Ms. Jackson, do you hear me?!" I looked up to see a very angry Mr. James.
"Yes, Mr. James?" I asked innocently.
"See me after class." he growled at me and then went back to his lecture.
"Yes, sir." I went back to my drawing.
I had forgotten our agreement when I looked down at my unfinshed page. I bit my lip again and focused on the drawing. Nothing could tear me away now.
Derek (Previously Unknown) POV
The girl was werid. She was a literal knock out, but when confronted she was a shy little kid! Man this was going to be too easy! I mentally grinnned and winked at the girl again, causing he to shy away even more. I don't think she can go any farther unless she wants to fall out of her seat or something. She may be a redhead, but she didnt have that famous temper. Or may be she did. I though back to that punch.
I actually smiled this time. She could deffinantly throw a punch with the best of them. I watched the cowering girl out of the corner of my eye the entire class period. Not even my two idiotic best friends could break me away. This was going to be an interesting year... That's for sure...
