The Past

In a typical family home, the Charles family lived together. The family consisted of six members in total. The young father, Seth J. Charles, aged 28, and his wife, Marcy Charles, aged 27, lived with their four children. Their children were 8-year-old Jenna Uniper Charles, 4-year-old Neran Neo Charles, and the twins, Charlie Char and Charlotte Shar Charles, who were 2 years old. Their home was located by a cliff where the sunset was stunning in the evenings, and stars appeared at night with a stunning glow. Seth himself installed rails along the edge to keep anyone from getting too close. In addition to their home, there was a vibrant forest set a little way into the woods. In this forest, there was a clearing with a river flowing through it and a large tree trunk lying on its side, surrounded by lush greenery including wildflowers, dandelions, and ferns. The base of the log was covered in moss, and vines and fungi were also present, all while a stone path made a trail towards said spot in the forest for easy entrance and exit. When they were younger, Seth and his wife discovered the place in a state of disrepair, and it was there that they first met as teenagers seeking solace from their own problems. This chance meeting led to them staying in touch and eventually getting married. After marriage, they returned to their present-day home to repair it with endless amounts of effort, sweat, and motivation. During the process, they had Jenna who would reside with Marcy and her family home until the house would be finished. Four years would have passed until their home was fully complete. With the walls reconstructed, the floors replaced, the ceiling reworked, and the roof done by a professional that Marcy's parents had hired. The reworking of their home was completely possible by Marcy's family funding for supplies, tools, professionals, and furniture. With the money that was left over, Seth and Marcy set off to purchase the essentials for themselves and begin working for their own money for the rest of their home to be how they imagined.

Four years after completing the construction of their home, Seth and Marcy have been enjoying a peaceful life with their children. Each child has their own room, and the family room is decorated with warm, cozy furniture. They also have a field right outside their front door where the kids can play and engage in activities. Additionally, they were situated near a populated town down the elevation below the cliff, where they would attend the annual cultural festival they had with the children for them to engage in the activities there, all while not having a care in the world. The lanterns, decorations, toys, activities, and fireworks ... it was an event that would leave an impression of what beauty is to the young Jenna and Neran, with Charlie and Charlotte being too young to have any understanding or recollection of what it all was. They just thought of them as pretty lights and nothing more than their simple natures as toddlers. To the parents, this was a dream come true to them and sought to live their lives in peace for the rest of their lives.

On the date of July 7, 2009, there was a meeting held for first-world countries in one collective room with their representatives all present. The meeting was in discussion in regards to criminal activity rates, with the focus on the "Gifted," a title given to people born with special powers unlike any other that could grow stronger depending on the maturity of the individual. The representatives would speak in turn about their thoughts and opinions on the matter, with the probability of discrimination likely being a factor in this cause, which in a way was true, but it was only one of several things that would lead to these results. The discussion was filled with lots of back and forth amongst one another, even becoming heated at the thought of the Gifted being responsible for major crimes, as a few representatives were secretly Gifted as well, but kept that information private for their roles. The conversation would take a drastic turn as the representative for the United States, Camilla Dyhart, stood up to come to an absurd conclusion with the bias of a Common. She would state that most fear is struck upon the Gifted due to their obvious presence of being a higher power above them and even local law enforcement. With the criminals that are Gifted to be prime to the succession of major criminal groups flourishing and not having the forces adequate to deal with those sorts of masses, even with their "Special Division" in activity to keep them at bay, with less than comfortable results being presented to them. In addition, Dyhart mentions that this issue may arise with the Common's rational fear towards the Gifted, as over the past century they have grown to populate about 30% of the planet, with a few countries lacking that information, but regardless, possess a risk for all of the Commons themselves without protection. Dyhart would finish off her statement with a suggestion, "Instead of doing nothing about them, we should send a global wave of attack to eliminate them altogether and thus solve a plethora of problems of this modern age that are centered on them. "Unemployment rates, the economy, public safety, and average anxiety rates worldwide. Realistically, it may be a significant challenge to recruit individuals into the armed forces, as a large portion of the population is unwilling to risk their lives, with only a minority willing to actively engage in national service. As a result, the best strategy to address these concerns within the population could be the complete elimination of such worries, don't you agree? We have the necessary resources to carry out this proposed course of action. Additionally, as previously mentioned, the resulting economic benefits are expected to offset associated expenses." The whole room was abruptly engulfed in silence as she spoke. The few Gifted individuals present were visibly taken aback and couldn't fathom the words that had just been uttered, while others were lost in contemplation. In a sudden turn of events, the vast majority of the room rallied behind the notion. However, about 1/5th of the room voiced their objection, provoking loud outcries from the representatives of Japan, Germany, Italy, France, and New Zealand. Despite the dissent, the decision was made and the matter was settled. Subsequently, Dyhart and several others exited the room. In an attempt to thwart Dyhart's departure, the Japanese representative made a beeline for her, but he was thwarted by her security team, who managed to block his path. The representative of Japan, Aoto Saito, would then devote himself and those who remained in the room who opposed the notion of allying with one another to protect their nations' Gifted peoples, as they were also Cloudan.

A month after the meeting of '09, the attack had begun in Europe, ridding of all the Gifted with unified forces from all the countries that gave the green light to the ridding of Gifted plan. "The situation led to the formation of several groups, including the emergence of the "Statheros" Branch, which aims to eliminate the Gifted individuals who have had no current or past affiliation with any government involved in the process. The "Dōtoku Allies" were a coalition of nations dedicated to mutual defense, pledging to support each other with their armed forces whenever one of them was threatened by the Statheros. Additionally, the "DieHearts" were the largest rebellious group in the world, known for their clandestine activities. They clandestinely provided insider information from the United States to aid in undermining the United States and altering the course of the unfolding chaos. After an incident in retaliation to the Gifted from the United States resulted in mass killed, there was a ruling to rid of the havoc before it became gradual before the wave of the Statheros could come. However, all attempts to do so were poorly executed and eventually escalated into violence from the Gifted. This led to the formation of groups opposing the government on top of the DieHearts and ultimately resulted in the greatest chaos the country had ever faced. With the reduced amounts of soldiers in the country, the United States resorted to pulling back their men from the frontlines across seas to return and protect their nation. This decision would drive the initial Statheros plan off course but was swiftly diverted by making a tour across all of North America, starting from Virginia. This entire ordeal led to the eventual mass being removed completely from the surface of the U.S., leading to a long silence from the DieHearts, emerging a major lack of intel for the Dōtoku.

Throughout this entire event, the primary pushing factor that sparked this bloodshed was fear, a sentiment that cannot be entrusted to drive an entire movement that would change the presence of the planet, especially with the mass amounts of influence and power those with fear may have, like the government. The Commons would name this event in history, the "Great Cleansing," but the Gifted would name it a more suitable name, the "Great Cataclysm."
