"How could he have just got up and left?"

"I mean, get up and not say anything? Not even leave a note?"

"He did leave a note. Not much on it."

"What did it say?"

"I only know there was a note. Took all of his stuff, walked out."

"My god..... who walks out on a marriage like that?"

"Jimmy."

"Okay, I know the answer was obvious, and perhaps that should have been posed as a more rhetorical question.... But Jesus, that's heartless."

"How is she?"

"She, is as you can probably expect." I answered, breaking my silence, as I sat at the breakfast island, surrounded by the buzz of confusion and anger from my friends, but feeling worlds away.

"Sorry. We can't get our heads around it, so god knows how you must be feeling, or what you must be thinking, right now." Nancy said, coming to sit opposite me.

"Well, let's see. My husband couldn't tell me to my face, left a note that just said 'I don't love you anymore, I'm leaving' and was gone when I woke up this morning. All of his belongings packed and gone with him." I said, with a shrug.

"Did you notice anything.... Before, or lately?" Robin asked, occupying the seat next to Nancy.

"The only obvious thing that springs to mind, is his new, much younger, blonde, secretary." I said.

"You're joking?" Nancy asked.

I shook my head wordlessly, before running a hand through my hair.

"I mean, you're still young. He's what? Thirty?" Robin said, sounding insulted.

"I'm not nineteen though, sweetheart." I reminded her.

"She's nineteen?!" Nancy cried.

"Embarrassing, isn't it?" I asked.

"I'm so sorry. What an asshole." Nancy said, shaking her head with disgust.

"I'm just gonna put this out there, should have carried on dating me, Miller." Steve interjected, from the kitchen doorway, greeting me with my maiden name.

"Really, Steve?" Nancy asked, though to her surprise, I chuckled softly.

"Yeah, maybe I should have." I said, as Nancy rolled her eyes.

"I'm just trying to lighten things up a little." Steve said, raising his hands in surrender.

"It's good to see you." I said, as he walked up behind me, squeezing one of my shoulders reassuringly.

"Been a while I know." He said.

"So, what happens now?" Robin asked, as I shrugged.

"I guess I can consider us separated, unofficially." I said, sighing.

"I mean, you're taking it scarily well." Steve said, as he came to sit opposite me.

" Steve said, as he came to sit opposite me
