Jimin pov.

I walked into The Bread Basket at five 'til three, my curiosity piqued as to why Jungkook had picked this spot. Not that I had anything against baked goods, but it did strike me as an unusual choice for our meeting. Yet, as soon as I stepped in and saw him casually leaning against the counter, engaged in conversation with yoona, the owner, everything suddenly made sense.

Jungkook shifted his focus to me and greeted, "Hey." He motioned towards Sohee and continued, "The Bread Basket is generously donating dinner rolls, bread, and cinnamon rolls for the holiday food baskets. There'll be plenty for each family to enjoy on Christmas and even have some leftovers to freeze."

I was left momentarily speechless. It hadn't even crossed my mind to reach out to local businesses for non-monetary contributions. Jungkook's proactive approach spoke volumes.

"Wow, that's incredible. Thank you, ma'am," I expressed, feeling a mix of admiration and a tinge of regret that I hadn't come up with the idea first.

"Oh, it's no problem at all. It's the least I can do to lend a hand. I'm really impressed to see you two collaborating on this project. Not many young folks nowadays take the time to assist those in need. It's heartening to witness the youth of Hybe University actively involved."

I beamed at her. She had such a kind heart.

Jungkook, on the other hand, soaked up the praise. "Well, thank you, but it's truly our pleasure." He reached out and pulled me closer, giving me a playful nudge as if we were long-time buddy. "Jimin and I felt a sense of responsibility to support our beloved town and its residents in need, especially before we headed off to school. It's the least we can do."

I playfully jabbed him in the ribs as Winny glanced towards the sound of the door chimes.

"Ouch," Jungkook winced before Winny turned back to us, and his artificial smile reappeared.

"Oh, where are you two going off to?" Yoona's eyes brightened.

"JYP," Jungkook answered before I could get a word in.

I glared up at him, ignoring the way his goofy grin made my insides clench with... rage, I decided. It had to be.

"Both of you are going to JYP? That's amazing. Congratulations."

"Yup. This time next year, we'll both be inseperable."

"Fitting for you," I mumbled under my breath, and Jungkook's smile broadened, his arm tightening around me.

"I'm sure your parents are proud."

At the mention of my parents, my heart skipped.

"We'll be sad to see you go, but I know you'll be back to visit," yoona continued.

"Absolutely," Jungkook said, then accepted the pledge yoona handed him.

Turning us around, he headed for the door. Once we got outside, a burst of cool air hit my face, and I seized the opportunity to wrench free from his arm. "Why? Why did you do that?" I spluttered.

"Do what?" he asked, his expression innocent.

"You told her I was going to Jyp."

"Aren't you?" Jungkook inquired, his expression still innocent but with a hint of mischief in his eyes.

"I brought my hands to my temples and gently massaged away my blooming headache and groaned. 'Yeah, sure. If I get in. I haven't received any early acceptance letters yet, let alone the one to Jyp. Weren't you listening to me the other day?'

He shrugged. 'Yeah, of course, I was. But you'll get in.'

'You don't know that,' I snapped, staring at him, jaw clenched, mouth set in a tight line. How was he always so casual about everything? Does nothing faze him? What must it be like to live in a world devoid of problems?
