"Megan, hurry up! We're gonna be late for class!" my friend yelled as she scurried around our small dorm room, grabbing all the things she needed before leaving.

I had woken up late. A bit too late to say the least.

I had thrown on some sweatpants and a tank top and did my skincare and dental care and quickly grabbed my things and met my best friend of ten years at our very small dorm room entrance. I slid on a pair of sneakers and took a breath before following my friend out the door and entering a very confined dorm building hallway, the hallway being decorated with poster boards of clubs to join and weird couples who decided to make out in the halls this early in the morning.

I checked my phone and glimpsed at the time, 7:09 A.M., if you wanted to know.

I hoisted my bag on my shoulder more and continued to follow my friend throughout the halls, attempting to not stare at the weirdness going on.

When we finally exited the dorm room building we took in a deep breath of fresh air, the air not smelling like cotton candy flavored vapes anymore.

"Why did we sign up for such early classes?" I asked Katie.

"Don't remind me that this was our personal choice," she sighed out as she combed out her semi-matted hair with her fingers.

We kept walking to our class together, the classroom only being a short ten minute walk from our dorm room. We suddenly stopped when we noticed a girl passed out on the bench, her skin looking pale and grey.

"This is why you don't party on school nights, kids," Katie joked as she kept walking past the passed out girl on the bench. I kept my eyes on her as I walked past, something not seeming right about her. Her veins were popping out, the green in her veins popping more than usual.

I tried to shrug it off and believe in what Kate said, that she partied too hard and passed out on the bench.

We made it to our classroom and took a seat near the top of the room, trying to get as far away as we could from our professor just in case we fell asleep. Everyone looked like a zombie except for a few who always looked ready to learn this early in the morning.

The professor then walked in, looking more calm and groomed then usual.

Professor Omen was a big gossip topic in our university. He always looked...mysterious and like he was planning something. Everyone would make rumors that he was secretly a murder or a vampire and other outrageous things.

He took a seat at his desk in the middle of the large room and placed his bag on his desk before standing up and making his way to the front of the room, as if he was ready to teach.

"Good morning class, today marks my 25th year of teaching at this university. I'm so very sorry you're my first class of the day, I wish you all luck," he said, laughing the last part out.

The room erupted in the whispers and people started to turn their heads every which way. Suddenly the doors near the front and the back slammed open and people ran in and ran behind every student. Screams erupted throughout the room. I tried to turn and run away before a woman stood behind me and leaned in, "May the luck be ever so in your favor. I believe in you," she whispered before she placed a rag in front of my face and my eyesight started to become weary. I tried to fight back but my body started to become weak, the drugs affecting my strength.

I woke up on a cold cement floor, the feeling on chains on my lower right leg weighing me down onto the floor. I looked around and saw four other people in the room with me instead of the usual twenty. They too were chained on one of their legs, all of them seemingly just waking up.
