Lucia's POV

„Cumpleaños feliz, cumpleaños feeeeliiizzz!" Pablo whispered while he gently brushed my hair out of my face. My heavy eyes fluttered open, seeing a sleepy Pablo looking down at me with a smile.

„Good morning birthday girl." He leaned over me, giving me a short kiss. I giggled once his kisses went to my neck and down to my collarbone, loving the attention I got on my 20th birthday.

„Pablito we need to go soon or we'll miss our flight." I grinned as he was now completely on top of me, still carrying on with his ministrations.

Satisfied with his work, he pulled me up with him and carried me to our shared bathroom.

„Does your knee still hurt from yesterday?" Pablo asked me as he placed me on the bathroom counter and gave me my toothbrush.

I had my last league game last night at home. We won but sadly couldn't catch up with Las Palmas who were one point ahead of us. Disappointment was the perfect word to describe how we felt, even some tears escaped my eyes, but overall we could be very proud of ourselves. Especially I could be proud, my first season had lots of downs but with the people I loved, I turned it into something special, something good.

So we shook the disappointment away and focus now on the next season in hopes to win two trophies.

During the game I fell awkwardly on my knee, but except for some bruises, everything was fine.

„All good, just a bruise." I grinned, the toothpaste almost falling out of my mouth.

Not much later me and Pablo already sat on a plane to Las Palmas, hoods of our sweaters up to try and catch up on some sleep.

A few people asked us for pictures but all of them were really sweet and respectful.

A girl even brought up the nike commercial, telling us her and her friends loved the interview and little games.

Slowly, the hate turned into support and I wasn't dreading to go out anymore.

My father picked us up at the airport, embracing us both in a tight hug. He even had a small bouquet of flowers for me as a birthday- and welcome present.

„You two are glowing! How are you guys doing?"

„Well, much better after yesterday. I was pretty disappointed after losing the league title but I just want to enjoy the time here with you guys." My dad gave me a soft smile as he was driving while Pablo sat in the backseat.

„I'm excited to get to know your family and see where your daughter grew up." Pablo chimed in.

My dad was smiling the whole time, he almost loved him like he was his own son.

My grandparents and Mom were already waiting for us on the front porch, holding balloons and flowers in their hands as a welcome. My eyes started watering as I haven't seen my grandparents in almost a year, but Pablo gently rubbed my back, trying to calm me down.

„Feliz cumpleaños Bombón!" All of them chimed once I reached them. Like my Papa, they all threw their arms around me, pampering my face with kisses.

„Ahj hija te ves tan hermosa! Look at you!" My abuela said, cupping my cheeks to wipe away my few tears.

„You're all grown up!" My abuelo added, eyes wide.

Apparently I've matured over the year.

Pablo timidly stood a bit behind me with my father by his side, having a smile from one ear to the other.

„Ah Lucia! Tienes un novio muy guapo eh?! Llama Pablo si?"

„Si, soy Pablo." He laughed, his cheeks turning red at my grandparents words.
