Dorinda's POV

The next morning...

"God's got a blessing yeah, with your name on it," I sang to myself as I brought my bag to the door for our driver to take to the car. Bey was only going to be in the hospital no more than two days, but I was going to be staying with her until she's discharged. Blue was also coming with us and staying with us for the day but she would stay with Kelly and her crew until we got back and settled in.

Thanks to the long nap I took yesterday, I spent most of the night tying up some loose ends and clearing my schedule for the next few weeks to be here with Blue and Bey while she recovers from surgery. I'm still mad she told me last minute but what's done is done, ruminating on it is not going to change anything. We have to move forward.

It was still early; we didn't have to be at the hospital for another two hours so I decided to cook breakfast while Bey and Blue got some more rest. Unfortunately Bey wouldn't be able to eat because of her surgery, but I could play her one of my sermons and she could feed her spirit. I grabbed all of the ingredients I would need from the fridge and got to work prepping everything.

In the middle of cooking, the doorbell rang and I turned the stove down to answer it. I peeped above the lock to see Solange and opened the door.

"Hey Solange, Good morning!" I said, giving her a hug and room to enter.

"Morning sis in law." She said. I rolled my eyes playfully as we headed to the kitchen.
"You and this sis in law talk. You want some food?" I asked.

"Depends on what you cooked..." she said.

"I have pancakes, eggs, and turkey bacon." I replied.

"Ooh yes, I'd like a plate of that." She said, sitting down.

"I'm surprised you're here so early. Your sister and niece are having a hard time waking up." I said, sitting the food in front of her. I also poured her a glass of orange juice.

"Thank youuuu." Solange said. "I knew those two would be hard to get up and since I figured you were going to cook breakfast I wasn't missing it. Plus, I needed to ask you something." She added.

"Ask me something? What's going on?" I sat across from her as she finished chewing her food.

"Well, I'm curating a music series with the Brooklyn Academy of Music and on Good Friday, I want The Clark Sisters to perform. I'm calling it Eldorado Ballroom after a historic Black music hall in Houston and the program honors the blueprints of Black music. Your group has shaped so much of culture and I want to celebrate y'all." She explained.

My mouth dropped, clearly speechless at the invitation.

"Wow Solange, I don't know what to say. You have me speechless and obviously I can't speak for the group but I would be honored to perform. How soon do you need an answer?" I asked.

"By the end of the week is fine. I want to make sure all flights and expenses are booked and accounted for before we officially start promotion," She said.

"Does Bey know about this?" I asked. She ate the last bit of eggs before wiping her mouth.

"Nope you can tell her about it cause I'm sure I'll forget once she gets out of surgery. I'll email you the details with all of the information so you can tell your sisters. Twinkie must come so if you need me to personally call her to explain the event, just let me know," She said.

"I know my sisters would love this event, but I must bring up that I haven't spoken to my sister Jacky since my birthday." I said.

Her eyes went wide and I shook my head.
