It had been a good couple of days since I found out and I had managed to be pulled into an argument between my parents and my step-grandma.

I sat on a makeshift black and purple throne, exchanging weird looks with both Hecate and Thanatos, who were tasked with 'taking care of me'. Basically their only job was to keep me doing something instead of A, crying from guilt, B, looking for Caelan so I could convince him to come back or C, worrying about my brothers. They were doing pretty good so far.

"—told you he was a bum!" the older woman, Demeter, said.

"Mother!" Persephone replied.

"Let's ask Nova what she thinks." Demeter challenged and I looked away from my staring contest with Thanatos.

"Ha!" He exclaimed and I flipped him off as my father shushed him.

"Ask me what I think of what, my dear grandmother?" I asked, standing up and moving between Dad and Persephone, a hand on each of their shoulders. Hecate insisted on making me look my best since grandma was coming over for the weekend. She claimed I looked radiant when she threw this black crown on my head and curled my black hair. I had finally learned how to walk in these heels.

"Your father. What do you think of your father, babydoll?" I cringed at the nickname but managed to hide it well.

"Well, ma'am. I feel personally that my father, though he can be a bit brash and harsh at times, is truly a wonderful person."

"Nova, you don't have to lie to me." She smiled, stepping forward and I met her halfway, placing my hands on her arms in a passive aggressive way.

"I'm not lying to you my dearest."

"You are-"

"We have visitors!" Hades barked. "Please!"

I glanced over and found both Percy and Nico standing in front of us. I went to go see Percy and apologize for my outbursts last time we had seen each other but Persephone pulled me into her side.

My father smoothed his black robes, which were covered with the terrified faces of the damned. He had pale skin and the intense eyes of a madman.

"Percy Jackson," he said with satisfaction. "At last."

Dad nudged me back to my seat, a little off to the side but it was closer to Percy than where I currently was.

I took the seat and watched my family evaluate the boys.

"Light a match next to Demeter." Thanatos mouthed, making a fire gesture before Hecate slapped his hands down and I poorly covered my laugh with a cough.

Grandma Demeter looked exactly like her daughter. She had the same hair and eyes, but looked older and sterner. Her dress was golden, the color of a wheat field. Her hair was woven with dried grasses so it reminded me of a wicker basket. If we did as Thanatos was suggesting, she would be in some deep shit.
