It's a very dark night, Nathan was so scared, because some one follow him from his work station so he ran into the woods, he hid behind a massive oak tree in the dense, The moonlight barely pierced through the thick canopy above, casting eerie shadows all around. His breaths were rapid and shallow, his eyes darting frantically as if he was hiding from someone lurking in the darkness. That person came closer to him...
**In the morning:**
The first rays of the sun filtered through the trees, casting long, golden beams across the forest floor. Two boys came out for a walk early in the morning and Nathan was lying unconscious on the road so the boys saw him and trying to wake Nathan up, he didn't wake up so they called 911 and informed the police.
Nathan was rushed to the sliverbrook hospital, his condition critical. Doctors tried thier best to review him. But unfortunately his pulse dropped they call it. He died because of a heart attack they informed the police that he is dead.
Nathan had no family left; his parents had died in an accident a few years before, and he had been living alone since, helping the old man in the neighborhood, who had also died two weeks ago.
The hospital handed over Nathan's body to the police. As they prepared to transfer him, an officer heard a scratching sound coming from the body bag. Eyes wide in disbelief, they untie Nathan, he is pale and weak, slowly scratching at the inside of the bag. They bought Nathan to the doctor. doctor's Shocked. doctors declared it is a miracle. Word of Nathan's resurrection spread quickly and he became talk of the town
After a few days of observation, he was discharged, but whispers followed him everywhere. The townsfolk, fearful of what they couldn't understand, kept their distance.
Nathan returned to his routine, though with a new, haunting awareness. Occasionally, he went to the old man's house to clean. The house was a relic of the past, with creaky wooden floors and dusty old furniture. One day, while dusting an antique lamp, he heard footsteps approaching. He stepped outside and saw a young man.
It was the old man's grandson, Adam, whom Nathan recognized from photos hanging on the wall inside and his grandfather told him about adam once.
"what are you doing here?" Adam asked harshly, his tone defensive.
"I'm Just keeping this place clean" Nathan replied
"This is my house . Do know that or not? Adam asked Nathan harshly.
I know, and your grandpa he told me about you. Nathan replied.
Don't came here while I'm here, I perfer to be alone adam said.
Nathan didn't reply him. But seeing with angry face .
My friend and I are going to stay here for a while. Do you have a problem with that?" Adam continued.
"No, no, I'm just finished cleaning and leaving," Nathan replied quickly, and leave that place with Little bit sad and angry.
**In the evening:**
The sky turned a deep orange, then indigo, as the sun set behind the hills. Nathan was working in his small, dimly lit house when he saw Adam leaving with his dog, Ace. The sight filled him with unease, and he felt compelled to approach Adam.
"Where are you going?" Nathan asked, trying to mask his concern.
"Why do you care?" Adam snapped.
"It's getting dark. It's not safe out there," Nathan warned, glancing nervously at the encroaching shadows of the woods.
"I know about the dark and the woods. Mind your own business," Adam replied harshly, his eyes narrowing in irritation.
"Please, don't go," Nathan insisted, his voice trembling. Nathan had bad feeling about Adam's idea to go into the woods at night.
Adam ignored him, walking away with Ace trotting at his heels. Nathan watched until they disappeared into the trees, the forest swallowing them whole. He waited anxiously for their return, but as the night deepened, there was no sign of them. Exhaustion eventually overcame him, and he fell asleep.
When Nathan woke, it was early morning. The light was soft and gray, the air cool and dewy. Panic surged through him as he realized Adam hadn't returned. He rushed to Adam's house, but only Ace was there, lying on the porch.
Nathan's worry deepened. Later, he saw Ace running into the woods and decided to follow. The forest was alive with the sound of birds and rustling leaves. He found Adam lying in a field, with Ace sniffing him anxiously.
"Adam, are you okay?" Nathan asked, shaking him gently.
"Yeah, but what are you doing here?" Adam mumbled, slowly coming to.
"Where were you last night? Did you fall asleep here?" Nathan asked, concern etched on his face.
"I don't remember anything."
"What? What's the last thing you remember?"
"Ace was running fast into the woods. I followed him, found him, and then I don't remember."
"Come on," Nathan said, helping Adam up. They walked back to Nathan's house, the morning mist swirling around them. Inside, Nathan made Adam a cup of hot coffee.
"Did you drink last night?"
"Yes, but I'm not sober."
"Okay, don't go outside at night, alright?"
"Yeah, yeah. You told me so, right?" Adam replied with a weak smile.
Okay,Nathan smiled back to him.
"Why are you here?" Nathan asked.
"Sliver brook is my home town, I want to explore this town and it's Holiday. I won't to staying for a long weeks, maybe a month, not long. Don't worry, I won't be a problem."
Nathan noticed Adam's hand was wounded, a deep scratch marring his skin. "How did this happen?"
"I don't know, it's just a scratch."
"It could get infected. Come here, wash it, and I'll get my first aid kit."
Nathan cleaned and patched the wound, his hands steady despite his worry. "How far did you go into the woods yesterday?"
"I don't know. Not too far."
Why do you ask, adam asked Nathan
Just a curiosity, Nathan replied.
"Okay, you're good now. I have to go to work."
"Ohh ohh Okay, thanks," Adam said, standing to leave. He left the place with so many questions and mysteries.
