     pew! pew! droooop...

"man, shit..." a curse hitched underneath kenma's breath. he mumbled a few more aggravated words before continuing his video game. the joysticks on the controller were firmly gripped by the blond boy, who had been locked away in his bedroom for days.

unwashed laundry was scattered across the floor to the point where it wasn't even visible. the only meals kenma seemed to consume lately were either microwaved bagel bites from his mini fridge, or take out meals that kuroo would leave outside his bedroom door — those of which the boxes would rot away on his pc desk. that wasn't the only thing though.

trash found itself piled up on kenma's nightstand beside his bed. speaking of said bed, it had not been made in a long time.

not because of kenma's bed-rotting, he just loathed the idea of having to make it. he thought it was idiotic to put so much effort into putting on a fitted sheet if it was only going to get undone sooner or later.

sitting in his gaming chair, he slumped with horrible posture. he had been playing a continuous game of... whatever he plays. as kenma rubbed his cloudy eyes, he nodded off to the sound of a video game gun blasting his character's head off.

"when was the last time i slept...?" he thought while his slender eyes began to shut.

SLAM!

the door abruptly swung open.

"it's time for you to eat, kenma."

an annoyed groan slipped from kenma's lips as his eyes slowly pried open. he continued to stare at his computer screen, knowing it was just kuroo arriving with a meal. almost like a zombie, kenma went back to clicking away at his controller. "hey..." he greeted softly. a rustling sound came from the bag of chips he was reaching for. kenma's sentence continued, but now with greedy munches in between his words. "i didn't... crunch... hear you come in."

kuroo sighed with his hands on his hips. he was upset with how kenma was treating himself, but he somewhat understood what he younger boy was going through. ever since they were young, kenma dreaded attention. and now due to unforeseen circumstances, it was as if all eyes were glued onto him.

"really, now?" kuroo asked, raising a brow. "then i'm going to assume you also couldn't pick up the sound of a second pair of footsteps coming up the stairs with me."

kenma paused in disbelief. everything felt like it was in slow motion. slipping off his headphones, he slowly pulled his gaze away from his pc to look up at kuroo. although the room was dimly lit — and the only light source being his computer screen — he could sense her from a mile away.

his heart dropped.

y/n stood next to kuroo in the doorway of kenma's bedroom. a displeased — no, a disheartened expression was imprinted onto her beautiful face. kenma felt a pang in his chest, knowing that her troubles were because of him.

kenma opened his mouth to speak, but hesitated.

what exactly was he supposed to say to the girl he ghosted?
