"I see ghosts and spirits all the time."
I know that when I say that, there are those that will think that I am haunted by visions, past demons, or by sins or wrongdoings I have committed in the past. However, that is not what I mean when I say that I see ghosts. I mean that quite literally, I can see ghosts.
Let me explain. My name is Lingpo (灵婆). I was born with the ability to see ghosts. I started seeing them when I was three, but it took me a while to realize that not everyone saw what I saw.
When I was at the park, around the age of four, I saw a lonely spirit play a prank on some of the boys. The boys were playing Yu-Gi-Oh, yet they kept grabbing the wrong cards. The spirit kept reshuffling and reorganizing the deck, but they didn't know that. I was surprised the boys couldn't tell.
When I went back to Nainai to go home, I asked her why the boys didn't tell the spirit to stop or try to stop her. Nainai, who has the same ability I do, realized that I could see ghosts too. She told me that not everyone could see as well as I could.
As I got older, I realized that just because Nainai and I could see ghosts, not everyone else could. For the most part, this ability of mine does not affect my day-to-day life. I see them when they do decide to appear, and sometimes some of them will approach me. However, most ghosts prefer not to be bothered or will not bother humans. The only time I interacted with a ghost in more than mere passing was when I had to help her. In the beginning, when I first met her, I had no idea our lives would be so intertwined, or how my life would change.
