𝐋𝐀𝐔𝐆𝐇𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐖𝐀𝐒 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐎𝐍𝐋𝐘 𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐇𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐃 in the living room of The Mills home as Ava, Ali, and Jenna sat on the couch drinking coffee and Elvis Presley's Blue Christmas album played on the turn table, when they heard the door open.

Mrs. Mills walked through the front door, set her shopping bags down, and hung her purse on the coat rack. "I'm home! Oh! You will not believe the mob at the Century City Mall I have never seen Nordstrom's so packed. But I got all my shopping done, and I managed to snag the last two iPads for the kids. I know, I know, you don't want me spoiling them, but what can I say, they are my grandchildren. Oh, honey, it's so good to have you home for the holidays."

Ali smiled as she glanced at her two best friends, then at her mother.  "Oh, it's good to be back mom."

"I mean, don't get me wrong, Colorado is beautiful, but you can't beat this weather." Mrs. Mills said

"Well, I don't know, I mean I love the snow." Ali smiled as she set her coffee cup down.

"Yeah, well, I lost that battle a long time ago, but at least we can hope to see Miss Colorado at the Christmas party tomorrow night?" Mrs. Mills asked

"Yes, of course. I can't wait." Ali smiled

"So are you girls planning to get together with any of the old gang while you're back?" Mrs. Mills asked

"You don't have to worry about me, I have some plans." Ali smiled

"Well, I have to finish wrapping my gifts, you girls enjoy your coffee." Mrs. Mills smiled, then walked upstairs

Setting her coffee cup down, Ava turned to her best friend. "Now, what plans are you referring to?"

"Well, Johnny, messaged me out of the blue, and we've been talking back in forth. I messaged him this morning letting him know I was back in town for the holidays and asked if he wanted to get lunch tomorrow." Ali smiled

"I think that's a good idea." Ava smiled.

"Yeah, I mean, we never got closure, and maybe after all these years, we can finally get it." Ali said

"Well, I know if he tries anything, you'll punch him just you did at the country club back in '84." Ava laughed

"Wait a second, she punched him?" Jenna asked as she set her coffee cup down on the table. "Why am I just hearing about this now? I've got to hear this story."

"Oh I'll happily tell it. Well Johnny and I had been broken up for months, I had a date with Daniel that night, and mom insisted on the two of us dancing. Anyway, Johnny sees Daniel sneaking in through the kitchen and he forced a kiss on me." Ali said
