Akari,

Ahh, November, the month of fall, pumpkin spiced lattes, apple cider donuts, thanksgiving, her mother's amazing Italian twist to the holiday...

That's what Akari envisioned every year at this time, her home, a snowy New York. Her mom yelling at her to bundle up, and her father taking her and her sisters to see the tree lighting at Rockefeller. What she hadn't envisioned was following a kaiju halfway around the world, and staying with family members she hasn't seen in awhile.

Her leg was bouncing incessantly, her teeth nipping at her thumbnail as she looked outside the plane's window. She was flying into Narita international airport, where she'd meet with her cousin, Miko, her father's sister's daughter. She'd take them to their home in Odaiba, and from there Kari will settle in, and begin her investigation as to what is calling Godzilla here.

The Kaiju had laid dormant after a fierce battle with a huge dragon Kaiju, sleeping off his victory. That was until a few weeks ago when he suddenly woke up again, pissed off and in a hurry, her father's trackers on him showed them that he made his way to Japan. The Kaiju was circling the coast...almost like he was looking for something.

And Akari had to figure out what that something was, if something, or someone was challenging the king, it could be catastrophic.

No one challenges Godzilla and lives, and if the fight nears a city, countless lives will be lost, it was her job to prevent that. It was her job to look out for the king, to ensure the safety of his throne, and his relationship with humanity.

Such a big ask for one girl.

But at her father's behest, Akari put on her big girl shoes, and got on a plane with a one way ticket to Japan.

Her mission? Figure what's pissing Godzilla off, and try her best to prevent a massive tragedy and loss of life if the Kaiju is planning to get into a war. The city's that are the victims of Godzilla's fights are often broken beyond repair. She was to prevent that, give the people a warning to get away and steer clear of what was inevitably going to become a field of rubble and fire.

"Ah, god," Akari mumbled, pinching her brow, opening her laptop again, placing it on the tray of the seat in front of her. She pulled up her father's system of keeping track of Godzilla, his vitals were stable, energy fluctuating, and his last known location being off the coast of Yokohama. She pulled up his swim path, he's been circling Japan, but no reports of his presence have been reported as of yet.

Good, she heard Japan had its own task force to deal with kaiju, and some superhero named...Ultra...something...? Or whatever.

More things to worry about...yay.

"Later, Kari," she mumbled to herself, switching to job listings she could pick up while she's here. For now, it looked like she was here for an indefinite future..and while her father offered to let her use his money while she was here, she declined. She'd do it on her own, she'd be fine here in Japan until it was time to come home. It just needed to be something small, something to make ends meet until Godzilla was done with whatever drew him here. Then she'd go home, go back to New York, and back to her life.

Yes, she loved looking after Godzilla, helping her father take care of the kaiju, but she did not like when it overhauled her life outside of that responsibility.

Whatever.

She shook her head, scrolling through them, reading job offer after offer, mumbling to herself, "Something to bring in extra yen so I'm not mooching off of Aunt Tsuki and Uncle Osuke. Doesn't need to be a lot, Kari."

Akari scrolled down, each listing was intriguing, a good pay that could let her do her own thing while she was here. She bookmarked several that'd she'd get back to, continuing to scroll until the pilot came over the intercom to inform them they'd be landing.
