From a young age, Valora knew she was not what her father had wanted her to be. She was not what her father had wanted, period. From a young age, Valora knew that, given the opportunity, her father would go back in time and do everything different if it meant he'd be keeping Aemma and Baelon alive instead of her - she knew her father would not hesitate before offering her life to the gods for a small chance her wife and son wouldn't have died that day. Valora knew her father hated the fact that he had chosen the babes in his wife's stomach over her for the chance that one of them could've been a boy. She knew he hated the fact that one of the twins was, in fact, a boy but he had been the one to perish along with his wife. She knew he hated the fact that Valora looked so much like her mother it almost felt like some punishment from the gods themselves and she knew not even Rhaenyra could show her much affection without being painfully reminded of the mother that was taken from her.
From a young age Valora knew her place. The princess who survived, the people called her. What they didn't say was that she was the princess who survived but that shouldn't have. They didn't need to. She knew. They all knew. The princess who survived she was, but she would never live a life of royalty. She would never be Queen, not when Rhaenyra had always been favored by their father. She would be sold to marry some nobleman like any other minor lady in Westeros without a chance to decide what she wanted, or who she wanted. And the moment her father married Alicent Hightower and the new Queen gave her father the son he had always wanted, everyone in the castle knew it was true.
The princess who survived was promised to prince Aegon as soon as he was out of his mother's womb, tied to a destiny of being cast aside before she could even fully comprehend what any of it really meant, at the tender age of two.

Author's note: I hope you liked this little prologue with a taste with what is about to come! This book will follow (sometimes a little more loosely than others) the show and, as a show-watcher, I would like to say that I am more of a Team Black than Team Green kind of person, however, watching the episodes and imagining a new character for it, it seemed to me that having my OC closer to Aegon and the Team Green would allow me for more liberty in creating a more interesting and unhinged type of character than the ones I usually write. With that said, I would like to say I hope you all enjoy this and let me know your thoughts! Likes, while appreciated, do not motivate me to continue posting as much as a comment, so please, feel free to do that!
