When you're pregnant but don't tell Heeseung since...
You were in the car with Heeseung after dinner with his family. The evening had been pleasant, filled with laughter and good food. As Heeseung drove, you reminisced about the night.
"It's really sweet that your brother is going to be a father," you said, smiling at the thought.
Heeseung's expression tightened slightly. "Yeah, but it must be hard for him. Taking care of a child isn't easy."
You glanced at him. "It would still be nice, though. Kids bring a lot of joy."
He shrugged, focusing on the road. "I guess. But it's a huge responsibility. I'm not sure I'm cut out for that."
You knew Heeseung didn't like talking about these things, so you let the conversation drop, staring out the window in silence.
...
A couple of weeks later, you started experiencing strange symptoms. You were vomiting regularly, even when you hadn't eaten anything. You had frequent headaches and felt dizzy often.
One afternoon, you went to the store to buy some medicine. As you walked down the aisles, you passed a shelf displaying pregnancy tests. You paused, shrugged, and placed one in your basket. You were certain you weren't pregnant, but you wanted to rule it out.
Back home, you set the pills on the counter and picked up the pregnancy test. Nervous but curious, you took it into the bathroom, hoping and praying for a negative result.
The minutes dragged on as you waited. When the time was up, your hands shook as you checked the result. Your heart sank as you saw the two lines. You were pregnant.
Tears streamed down your face as you sank to the bathroom floor, sobbing. This was the opposite of what you wanted, especially after hearing Heeseung's thoughts on parenthood. You knew you had to hide it from him.
...
Days went by with you hiding the pregnancy test in your hoodie pocket, too afraid to confront the reality. You carried on as usual, pretending everything was fine, but the fear and worry gnawed at you constantly.
One evening, Heeseung was sitting on the couch, scrolling through his phone when you walked in, asking where he kept your charger.
He mumbled an answer while staring at you, noticing how tired and pale you looked. "Have you been feeling okay? You look a bit off."
You forced a smile. "Just a little tired. I'll be fine."
He nodded but kept watching you with concern. As you changed out of your hoodie later that night, you forgot to take the pregnancy test out of the pocket.
The next day, Heeseung was looking for his charger and decided to check the pile of clothes on the chair. As he moved them around, the pregnancy test fell out of your hoodie pocket. He picked it up, his eyes widening in shock as he saw the result.
"Hey, what's this?" he called out, holding the test up.
You froze, your heart pounding. "I... I can explain," you stammered, rushing over.
Heeseung's face was a mix of confusion, fear, and hurt. "You're pregnant? And you didn't tell me?"
Tears welled up in your eyes as you nodded. "I just found out a few days ago. I didn't know how to tell you."
Heeseung's expression softened slightly, but his voice was still shaky. "Why didn't you tell me right away? We're in this together."
"I was scared," you admitted, your voice breaking. "I heard what you said about kids, about not being ready. I didn't want to burden you."
Heeseung sat down on the couch, his head in his hands. "I can't believe this... I mean, we're having a baby?"
You nodded, tears streaming down your face. "I'm sorry, Heeseung. I didn't plan this. I didn't know what to do."
He looked up at you, his eyes filled with emotion. "Why didn't you trust me with this? We could have faced it together."
"I was afraid you'd be angry, or that you'd leave," you sobbed, burying your face in your hands.
Heeseung moved closer, pulling you into his arms. "Hey, hey, don't cry. I'm not going anywhere. This is a shock, but we'll figure it out."
You clung to him, feeling a mixture of relief and fear. "I don't know what to do, Heeseung. I'm scared."
He kissed the top of your head, his voice soft and comforting. "We'll take it one step at a time. We'll go to the doctor, make a plan. We're in this together, okay?"
You nodded, feeling a glimmer of hope. "Okay."
Heeseung held you for a long time, both of you processing the news. After a while, he pulled back, wiping your tears with his thumb. "We'll be okay. I promise."
You managed a small smile. "I love you, Heeseung."
"I love you too," he replied, his voice steady. "And I'm going to be here for you, for both of you."
You nodded, feeling the weight of your fear start to lift. "Thank you."
Heeseung kissed you gently, his touch reassuring. "We're a team. We'll get through this together."
You leaned into him, feeling a sense of calm for the first time in weeks. Despite the uncertainty ahead, you knew you weren't alone. Heeseung was by your side, and together, you could face anything.
