My last ever exam. Walking out of the hall I felt some sort of relief. God. No more worries, no more late night revision, that's it.
Fuck
Now I have to wait for the results.
"How do you think it went?"Mum asks as she sets three plates on a table. It's funny how my best friend cassie comes round my house everyday that she might as well live with use. Mum has gotten used to her coming so she prepares food for three just in case she does.
"It was alright I guess"I said with a shrug
"I hope it was more than alright if you want to get into Harvard university"
I roll my eyes.Ever since I got excepted to Harvard mum has not stopped pushing me she even banned cassie from coming round.
"One can only hope" I replied
"Oh my god you guyss saved me a seat! Aren't you cuties?"Cassie said walking towards us. It did not surprise me that she had used her key to come in. Mum got so sick and tired of opening for her that she just made her a key
"hi cassie" my mum greeted with a warm smile.
'"hi miss Dowling" Cassie replied with a bright smile. Cassie had everything going for her, she was tall with the longest legs I have ever seen, with her olive skin that made her bright blue eyes shine, blonde hair that bounced with every step she took. With her model thin body, she was a gorgeous girl and you couldn't help but like her with a tid bit of envy.
"Your just in time for dinner"my mum said going back to the stove "go to arias room I'll call you to when its done"I looked the door to my room and sat down on the sofa near the window while cassie sat on my bed. I loved my room. When my grandpa died he left my mum and me an outrageous amount of money. My mum started her own catering business with some of the money and then went on and used some of it to buy a house and decorate it the way we wanted. My room was based with mint green walls with low cut silver bed with mint green sheets. The floor was marble which brought some light to the room. And a mint green study desk at the far right conner. Let's just say I hade a very big obsession with mint green last summer.
"Your never going to believe what I'm about to tell you!"Cassie squalled
"What?"I said looking away from the window.
"So, my dad believes that I haven't experienced the wonders of life and if I'm going to attend Harvard I need to make sure that I know the definition of culture. So.... He has booked an all inclusive holiday to all the countries he thinks has an outstanding amount of culture!"Cassie said jumping on my bed.my heart sank. I won't have my best friend to celebrate summer with. Cassie dad was a wealthy man who adored his daughter any one with eyes could see the love was there every time he looked at her. Cassies mum died from cancer a few years back cassie was devastated and her dad never recovered from it, every night when me and my mum would drop food there and clean the house while cassie locked herself in her room and her dad would stay in his office working till the crack of dawn. but every day we went gave them food cleaned and stayed with them, they were family, we have a boned that could never be broken. One day my mum drove cassies dad Somewhere they were gone for two days, within there return the dad was back to his old self. And focused his time and energy on cassie and became the great father he is today.
"Wow, that's nice of him" although I was happy for her I couldn't hide my saddens, I was going to miss her.
"I know right? And do you know what makes it even better?" Said with the biggest smile ever, I swear if her face smiled anymore she will burst with rainbows and unicorns with stars and fairy dust.
"What?"
" My best friend is coming with me!"
She pounced on me forcing me to jump with her
"No way!"
" Yes indeed my friend! My dads downstairs talking to your mum now"
Fuck
My mum hates surprises.
As if reading my mind cassie continues " don't worry my dad called earlier saying he had a proposal to make to your mum" sighing, I take a minuet to gather my thoughts. I have never really been aboard we always planned to go me and my mum but just never got round to we would always just end up taking a trip to a spa or end up going to the beach. But then it hit me. we didn't have the money for a trip like that. we were okay with money thanks to my grandpa but still a trip like that costs thousands and I don't think my mum could afford to spend that much.
"Cassie I don't think I can afford it" I said taking a set back down on the sofa. and looking out the window.
"Don't be silly, dads paying" cassie smiled and then took my hand " he insisted you come, think of it as a thank you for what you and your mum did for us, please tell me you will come with" she pleaded
" I-I- I don't know what to say, this is awfully generous of your father, thank you" I said giving cassie a tight huge while trying to fight back the tears but one tear gently started rolling down my check.
" No need, besides dad knew there was no way he could separate me from you so either way he had no choice" we both laughed remembering the failed attempts are parents have tried when they tired to split us up but we always found are way back to each other. When we finally calmed down we went downstairs to find my mum and cassie dad sitting by the lounge with wine glasses in hand
" I take it you have told aria the good news?" Cassies dad smiled at us, but all my attention was on my mum she looked sad. I crouched down to her.
"Mum if you don't want me to go I won't go" I smiled at her whipping the tear that ran down her cheek
She cupped my face in her hands and bent down to give me a kiss on my Forhead.
"No, I want you to go, it would be a great Experience. I just fell upset cause my little baby is all grown up, your going to experience the world for the first time and it's extremely hard as a parent for if you fall I won't be there to catch you when you fall, or to help make sense of Things." I gave her a huge and squeezed harder at her last words "you have grown up to be a fine women both of you, and im so proud to have you too" she said through a bundle of tears.
" Aww misses Dowling" cassie came in and joined the huge.
After what seemed like a life time huge, my mum got her self together and we all ate together, talked about the trip, school life, while me and cassie caught up my mum and her dad talked about God knows what, it was nice any one looking in from the outside would have thought we were a family, come to think about it I guess we were.
Later that night after saying are good nights to everyone. as I lay in bed wondering just how much of my life my dad has missed. how could you not want to watch your child grove up. that same night I saw a shouting star and I made a vow to God that when I have a child I will never let it go, I will put my all into being the best mum, but most of all. I will give it love
