Jay's POV

The moment I arrived in the classroom, the first thing that immediately caught my attention was Jieun, already continuing our project in her laptop. Don't tell me she had been working on our project since she came inside! I thought to myself as I immediately sat on my chair beside her.

"Hey! Were you doing our project since you came?", I asked her.
"Yeah..", she said.
"Let me do it this time! I can't just exhaust you like that by not contributing and just letting you do the rest by yourself..", I told her.
"Is it ok with you?", she asked me.
"Yeah! Leave it to me, Jieun! For now, I want you to rest..", I told her as she handed me her laptop.
"I don't get you, Jay..", she said.
"What do you mean?", I asked her.
"At first you're arrogant and cold towards me, and now you're nice and kinder, which scares me..", she said.
"Aren't people allowed to change? And why does it scare you, by the way?", I asked.
"It scares me, because now that you're kind towards me, you may shift back to your usual arrogant and cold self anytime..", she said.
"Look.. I know you're still having a hard time, adjusting to me but.. I'm trying my best to change and to be a better version of myself. And I no longer want to hurt people, especially you, without any reason..", I said.
"Please stay true to your words, Jay! I don't want people, luring me that they're not like others but it turns out they're way more worse than my enemies..", she said.
"Don't worry! I'll never do that!", I said.

Why are her trust issues bigger than mine? Did she experience something that gave her a reason to not trust anyone that easily? I worriedly thought to myself.

"By the way, Jay.. I don't want to act like I'm close to you but.. I want to ask you a question..", she said.
"What is it? You can ask me anything..", I told her.
"Are you sure?", she said.
"Mhm! Don't worry, I won't get mad..", I said.
"Way back high school, whenever there's a girl that's interested in you, you would push them away? Why?", she asked.
"It's because I'm interested in someone back then, that's why I pushed them away. I do came from a wealthy background but.. I don't want them to use me just because of money, and I remember having a crush on this girl one time. We only lasted for like.. 3 months since she's just after my wealth.", I told her.
"Are you still interested in that certain someone?", she asked.
"Yeah, until now! I'm just.. uncertain if she feels the same towards me! I mean.. who would ever dare to fall for a bully like me?", I said with a sigh.
"It's never too late to change, Jay! Who knows? Maybe she'll realize that there's more to what meets the eye..", she told me.

Well, that certain someone is you, Hwang Jieun! And I'm doing everything I can to change, not because I want you to like me back, but because I want you to see that I'm trying to change! I thought to myself.

"I really like it when we're talking like this! Not like the usual on where we're arguing or almost close to killing each other since I would always bully you..", I said.
"So.. what are you trying to say?", she asked me.
"Would it be ok if you can use this chance to get to know me? Not as your bully, but me as a whole?" I asked her when a smile curved on her lips.
"Sure! I'll try!", she said.
"Alright then! I guess we're now in the stage of patching things up and slowly in the process of becoming friends, Ms. Hwang!", I said.
"You're silly, Jay!", she said as she chuckled.
"I like your smile!", I told her.
"Oh really? Thanks, I guess..", she said as she hid her blush.

Cute! I thought to myself as I chuckled. Well, it's true! I do like her smile! And I like how she smiles widely that her eyes are no longer seen. The most beautiful thing I've ever seen is your smile!

Jieun's POV

a few hours later...

"Everyone, you may continue with the project later and take your lunch break!", our professor said.
"Let's just continue this later!", Jay told me.
"Alright! Let me handle the rest this time!", I told him.
"Alright then!", he said with a chuckle.
"You ready to go, Jieun?", Gaeul asked me.
"Yup!", I said as the three of us went out of the classroom.
