Jake paces back and forth along the hallway waiting to hear news on his best friend. Seeing his friend pass out in front of him, was shocking. He didn't know what had happened to Heeseung let alone if he was going to be okay. And he felt guilty for starting an argument causing Heeseung to leave and then to get hurt. It was his fault that Heeseung was in the hospital.
Jake was startled when Heeseung's manager came up to him. The look on his face held worry mixed with concern. He knew that Heeseung and Jake were close.
"Any news yet on Heeseung's condition?" His manager asks. Jake shakes his head. "No, not yet. They won't let me in to see him. It's all my fault. I shouldn't have started an argument in the first place. Otherwise Heeseung wouldn't be here right now". Jake blames himself for his friend getting hurt.
"Soon this place will be crawling with reports. So this can't get out that Heeseung is in the hospital". Heeseung's manager responded. He felt uneasy that no one was here yet, but still didn't want Heeseung to be on the news everywhere.
The manager puts a hand on Jake's shoulder. "It's not your fault that Heeseung is here. Why did you start an argument? You know how sensitive he has been lately". He tried calmly to get Jake to calm down. Jake sighed pinching the bridge of his nose.
"Heeseung revealed to me that Moon Yumi is going to be playing his fake girlfriend. Those two have history and she is going to hurt Heeseung and damage his career. I won't stand by and watch Heeseung go down that path again. If I find out that she is after him, her career will be over. I mean right now her career is already tarnished. If her career starts to spiral out of control, Yumi is going to take Heeseung down with her. You have to make sure that their contracts are terminated". Jake spoke his concern.
He couldn't watch Heeseung go down that dark path again. He didn't want to witness the aftermath.
"I didn't know that they had history. Earlier they said that they knew each other, but I didn't know that they were an item years ago. And I am sorry they can't terminate their contracts. They are in it until, the company says otherwise. I have no say in the matter. It's up to the person who is above me. I am just the guy who hands the contracts over. Sorry I have no control over this. Heeseung himself or Yumi are the only ones who can terminate the contracts or the manager himself". Heeseung's manager revealed.
Jake sighed heavily trying to come up with an idea as to help get his friend out of this mess. Jake couldn't forgive Yumi of what happened a few years ago. But he knew that they couldn't get back together. It would hurt Heeseung.
"Look, I know you care for Heeseung, but this is a path that only he can decide on. Rather it's for his benefit or Yumi's it's his choice. It's time that he decides on what makes him happy. I know you are trying to protect him, but in the long run you are going to hurt your friendship. What happened back then, was in the past. This is his future. Let him be free for once. Stop listening to what his parents say and let Heeseung be set free".
The words rang inside his head. Heeseung's manager was right, he needed to let him free, but worried that he would get hurt in the end.
. . .
When Heeseung came to the first thing he noticed was the throbbing pain in his head. He tried sitting up but was quickly pushed back down onto the mattress. "Don't get up. You'll be in a lot of pain if you do". A nurse responded lightly. Heeseung looked around confused, but quickly recalled what had happened. The mysterious man who had pushed him into the road came flooding back. Who was that man? And why did he harm me? Heeseung thought to himself.
"You only have a sprained ankle and a concussion, but otherwise will make a full recovery. You'll have to stay for a few days for observation. If you need anything press that red button. There is someone outside waiting for you. Are you okay with company?" She asked. Heeseung nods wondering who it could be.
Just as Heeseung was about to close his eyes, the door suddenly flew open. Jake came running in a worried look on his face.
"Dude, what the hell? You scared the crap out of me. Are you okay? Are you hurt anywhere?" Jake asked looking for injuries. Heeseung wanted to laugh but didn't. "Yes, I am okay. Only a sprained ankle and a concussion. By any chance did you see the man who pushed me into the road? He is the reason why I am injured. I need to talk to the police". Heeseung spoke worried for his safety.
Jake looks to his friend confused. "There was no man when I was there. I found you half on the sidewalk. What did the man do to you?" Jake asked now on edge. He worried for his friends safety and now dangerous this individual could be. Heeseung was lucky that he didn't get hurt worse.
Heeseung sighed running a hand over his face.
"I was waiting at the crosswalk waiting to cross when all of a sudden I was pushed from behind into the road. I fell into oncoming traffic as cars narrowly missed me. I tried getting to my phone but he crushed it. I asked who he was but he didn't answer. The guy approached me threatening me, saying guess I will have to find out. And that I will soon know his name. Why would anybody want to target me?" Heeseung wondered aloud.
