Tyler's POV
As Avery was rushed to the hospital after fainting, my heart pounded with fear.
After talking to Ruth, I hurried back to the room where Avery had been taken. I stayed by her side, holding her hand until she regained consciousness.
When she finally opened her eyes, I leaned in close. "Avery, I need to talk to Dr. Michaels. I'll leave you with the nurse for now, okay?" She nodded weakly.
"Can I walk around? My back hurts from lying down," she whispered to me.
I looked at the nurse, who nodded in approval. "You can take care of her." I reluctantly let go of her hand.
I quickly made my way to Dr. Michaels' office, knocking on the door before entering. He looked up from his desk, concern evident in his eyes. "Tyler, what happened?"
"Avery fainted," I said, my voice trembling with worry. "She just collapsed. But she's conscious now. We've been here at the hospital for a while. I just waited for her to wake up before coming to see you."
"Your timing is perfect because I just came from the operating room. I had a surgery earlier." He said.
"What do you think is the reason why she suddenly fainted? She was okay when we left here this afternoon after her checkup." I asked.
Dr. Michaels sighed and gestured for me to sit. "Tyler, Avery's condition, Cloud Cytoma, is a severe brain tumor. Even though we're working on strengthening her body for the upcoming operation, the tumor itself can still cause significant symptoms."
I listened intently, anxiety tightening my chest. "Is fainting one of them?"
"Yes," Dr. Michaels confirmed. "The tumor can cause a variety of symptoms, including fainting spells. Unfortunately, despite our efforts to bolster her health, these symptoms are unavoidable. They are a direct result of the tumor's impact on her brain."
I felt a wave of helplessness wash over me. "Is there anything else we should be prepared for?"
Dr. Michaels paused, his expression serious. "The most severe symptom Avery might experience is hallucinations. Her brain is under immense stress, and this can lead to her seeing or hearing things that aren't there."
I ran a hand through my hair, my mind racing with worry. "So, there's nothing we can do to prevent these symptoms?"
"We can manage them as best as we can," Dr. Michaels replied gently. "But it's crucial to understand that these episodes are part of the condition. We're doing everything possible to prepare her for the operation, but the tumor's effects are persistent."
I nodded, trying to steel myself. "Thank you for you time, and for the information, Dr. Michaels."
I rushed out of Dr. Michaels' office. As I hurried through the hospital corridors, I saw the nurse who had been with Avery earlier. She looked nervous when she saw me coming.
"Where's Avery?" I asked urgently, my voice tense with worry.
The nurse looked around anxiously. "I... I don't know. She was here just a moment ago. I told her I was going to the restroom, but when I returned, she was gone."
My stomach churned with fear. "Why did you leave her alone? She's not well," I said sharply, trying to control my rising panic.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Sandoval. I didn't think she would wander off," the nurse replied, clearly upset.
