= prologue =

- prologue -

jake woke up to the sound of his alarm blaring. he groaned and reached out to turn it off, squinting at the bright sunlight streaming through the window. today was the day he started college, a new chapter in his life. he was both excited and nervous.

"rise and shine, jake!" sunoo's cheerful voice came from the doorway. "we gotta get ready!"

"yeah, yeah, i'm up," jake mumbled, sitting up and rubbing his eyes. he glanced over at his other roommates, niki and jungwon, who were still fast asleep. "guess i'm not the only one who hates mornings."

"come on, we've got a big day ahead," sunoo urged, pulling jake out of bed. "we don't wanna be late for our first day."

jake nodded and got dressed quickly. he chose a simple outfit, wanting to make a good first impression without standing out too much. as he looked in the mirror, he took a deep breath, reminding himself that this was a fresh start.

after a quick breakfast, the four friends headed out, chatting excitedly about their classes and what they hoped to achieve. the campus was bustling with students, and jake felt a mix of anxiety and excitement. everything was new and different, but he was ready to embrace it.

they made their way to the main building, where they had their orientation. the hall was packed with new students, all looking around curiously. jake found a seat next to sunoo, with niki and jungwon sitting behind them.

"i can't believe we're finally here," jungwon said, looking around in awe.

"i know, right? this place is huge," niki added, his usually quiet self showing a hint of excitement.

the orientation started and it was long and detailed, covering everything from the campus layout to the clubs and activities available.

jake tried to absorb as much information as possible, but his mind kept wandering to what lay ahead. he couldn't help but wonder what kind of people he would meet and what experiences he would have.

after the orientation, they were free to explore the campus. as they wandered around, jake noticed a group of students who seemed to be the center of attention. they were laughing and talking, clearly enjoying themselves. one of them, a tall guy with a cold and mysterious aura, caught jake's eye.

"who's that?" jake asked, nodding towards the group.

"oh, that's sunghoon, park sunghoon" sunoo replied. "he's pretty popular around here. friends with park jay, who's also really popular and lee heeseung, the top senior."

"they look... interesting," jake said, feeling a strange mix of curiosity and intimidation.

"yeah, they're kinda like the kings of the campus," sunoo explained. "everyone knows them."

"how do you know so much?" niki asked, actually curious.

"let's just say i've heard all the gossips here~"
sunoo replied in a teasing tone.

...

that evening, back in their dorm room, jake and his friends were discussing their plans for the semester. sunoo was excited about joining the dance club, while jungwon wanted to try out for the drama club. niki was still undecided, but jake knew whatever he chose, he'd excel at it.

"what about you, jake?" sunoo asked. "any clubs you're interested in?"

"i'm not sure yet," jake admitted. "i think i want to focus on my studies first, then see what catches my interest."

"that's a good idea," jungwon agreed. "we've got plenty of time to figure things out."

as the night went on, they settled into their new routines. jake couldn't help but think about sunghoon and the mysterious aura he exuded. something about him intrigued jake, and he found himself wondering what it would be like to get to know him better.

little did jake know, fate had a funny way of bringing people together. and this was just the beginning of a story that would change his life forever.
