Toni Kroos is still in world-class form.
The soccer publication Score 90 revealed on its official social media on Monday (July 1) the best 11 players based on the ratings of soccer statistics publication Couch Score.
The formation is 4-3-3 and includes Nico Williams, Cody Gappo, Bernardo Silva, Fabian Luis, Cross, Kevin De Bruyne, Mark Cucurella, Antonio Rudiger, Yaya Toure, Joshua Kimmich, and Giorgi Mamardashvili.
The one that stands out the most is Cross. Cross is a retired player. The reason for his retirement is more about leaving on a high note than a low one. "He has decided to end his career after Euro 2024," Real Madrid announced on the club's website.
Cross returned to the national team ahead of Euro 2024. In fact, he had announced his retirement from the national team after Euro 2020. "There will be no more A matches," he said on social media. I've been thinking about retiring from the national team after Euro for a long time. I will not be at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar."
Kroos' return to the national team came at the request of the German Football Association. Germany was aiming to do well at Euro 2024 on home soil. Germany needed Kroos to help them do well.
Germany's performance started to improve after the return of crosses. Having a player who could hold the center of the midfield definitely stabilized the game. In the three friendlies they played before the start of the tournament, Germany won all three games that featured crosses, making them strong favorites to win the tournament.
At Euro 2024, Kroos' performance was no different. Kroos was still a key player in the center of the midfield, and his play was a textbook example of what a midfielder should be able to do: coordinate, distribute, and possess the ball. Kroos's performance helped Germany become the most in-form team at Euro 2024.They finished first in their group and defeated Denmark 2-0 in the round of 16. Their quarterfinal opponent is Spain. Spain is in as good a shape as Germany, so the previews are pointing to a final. If Crosby reaches the top of the table at Euro 2024, he"ll have had an epic season. He already won La Liga and the UEFA Champions League last season with Real Madrid. It'll be interesting to see if he can lift the trophy at Euro 2024 as well.
