Mikah Redferne. Her struggles that caused her painful sleepless nights. Each night had a unique, horrifying nightmare that gradually got worse. Each one added to the Trauma. Although it was no longer nightmares that were random in places unknown with most people she didn't know. Now... It was family. Friends. Boyfriend.
It was 2nd of December 2020. The world was in a horrifying pandemic and now the days became a struggle, not just the nights. Mikah was laying on her bed, grey fluffy covers and foam grey pillows. Mikah was curled up under the covers wearing a grey hoodie and black shorts, some of her hair up in a messy bun. Eyes staring at her phone as a video was playing.
The piercing sound of her heart pounding echoed throughout the room. Sweat dripping on the covers and shaky breaths that came from her chapped lips.
Hours passed like minuets as her eyelids became heavy, soon falling asleep.
Mikah opened her eyes to see her bedroom, midday, being cleared out by her brother, Caiden and her mother, Persephone. Boxes were filled with old toys, book, clothes and more. The right far corner of the room was filled with cleaning supplies, the room was not big, just a small box room with three walls painted white and one wall with white brick wallpaper on it. Small but cozy. Strange thing was just a second go Mikah was in bed asleep but now she is standing in the middle of her room midday holding a box of old things.
"Go put that in my room by the wardrobe. It can stay there for now."
Caiden's low soft voice spoke. Mikah just went along with it willingly, having forgot that she was just asleep and something about this situation was off. Just as she stepped out of the room her brothers' room was instantly to the right.
A smile was plastered on her face as she heard the laughter and joy coming from the next room. It caused a soft giggle to escape from her lips. Mikah had not felt joy in a while, laughter was forced and so were smiles. The only thing that made her feel even the slightest bit of joy was watching those videos on her phone. That made a smile appear. A laugh to come out that was not forced.
It was nice to feel joy.
But this feeling would not last long.
Suddenly the air became thick, and the aura was eerie. That's when the voice of Persephone bounced off the walls.
"Oh, sweetie look! It's your old phone... and the charger is with it! Let's plug it in and see what's on it."
Her heart started pounding as she was frozen in place and couldn't move sitting on the floor in Caiden's room leaning against the wardrobe staring at the wall in horror.
"No Mum don't plug it in its old. Mum...! Stop! Mum no!"
Her brother's panicked voice pierced through her mind causing Mikah's breaths to quicken, chest to tighten and heart to pound harder.
That's when the painful sound echoed through her mind. Then the empty lifeless body of her mother dropped in front of her, Lifeless eyes with huge pupils. The thumping sound of Caiden desperately giving CPR to Persephone to try and save her life.
She was dead.
Mikah woke up drenched in cold sweat panting, trying to calm down. The realization hit her that it was just a nightmare.
Mikah snapped out of the nightmare, shooting upright in her bed, in her room. She scanned her room; everything was normal which meant her mother was still alive. A sigh of relief escaped her lips as her heart beat started to slow down.
'Please make them stop.' Mikah thought as tears started to form in her eyes.
