The room was dark. The only illumination was provided by five lit candles burning insufferably. The ignition followed up by warmth.
A man stood in the middle of the dimly lit room. His hands behind his back. His hair was dark and ragged seeming to be wet as well. He was wearing dark brown trousers with a dark red shirt. He stood facing three people at the far end of the wall. It was difficult to tell whether they were male or female. Two of them wore long black robes making them seem camouflaged with the dark. The one in the middle wore a velvet robe with the hood on. His eyes were like slits reflecting the fire from the candles. His knuckles clenched tightly.
The phone rang. An eerie sound echoing throughout the room. The man in the middle was startled for only a minute as he regained his composure. The black-robed person on the right stretched out his hand for the phone. It was a man but the hand looked awkwardly icy. He put the phone to his ear and just listened.
After a few seconds he hang up and whispered to the man in the middle. He stiffened after hearing the message. He looked at the man in the middle through the slits of his mask:a plain white one, and said,
"The boy did not die."The man in the middle looked shocked. The words now sinking in. The boy did not die. He did not die. How?
"Are u sure?"
The moment he asked the question he realised he had made a mistake. The voice rang out clearly in the room. He was storming with rage inside
"How dare you?" His tone was icy.
"You have the audacity to question my honesty, my source?"The man fell on his knees immediately, apologising. He explained that he didn't understand how the boy could possibly be alive after what his guys did.
The rage was too much but eventually the beast in him was silenced after he calmed down.
"The only reason I'm letting u go is so that you can redeem yourself. Leave my presence and come back with good news."The man shuffled out of the room not looking back. After he was gone the candles were put out. The room was darker and the masked man spoke with venom, "Make sure that one of his men does not live to see daylight tomorrow."
And as if on cue the man on his left this time, stood up. In an all too familiar sensation he disappeared. To the other man he said, "Tell her to monitor the boy's progress at the hospital and keep me updated."
Her. Who was he referring to?
