Amity Park was known rather well for it's heat waves. Reaching dangerous levels at any given time, there was no doubt the town, to it's core, was an anomaly of nature. Combined with being a concrete jungle of a city, it was no doubt the result would be an egg-frying hell hole. Thankfully, for one half-dead citizen, there was relief in newfound frost-bringing powers. Unfortunately for him, his friends realized this. And would not leave him alone.
"Is this really necessary..?" Danny muttered through gritted teeth, his older sister smearing sunscreen on his face. "You have to be careful! It's boiling out there, and no amount of ghost powers can save you from a bad sunburn! Now hold your arms out!" Jazz ordered, squirting a fat glob of sunscreen into her hand. "Yup, I hate this," The younger teen said flatly as she rubbed the lotion all over his arms."Do you have a better option? It's either this or you layer up and I'm not cruel enough to let you go to school in a sweatshirt in this weather!" Jazz exclaimed, dropping the bottle of sunscreen in his drawstring bag. "... Fine." Danny crossed his arms. "But I'm going to be inside all day long! Why-" "Danny! Stop arguing! If you get a nasty burn I am not going to hear your whining!" She snapped and he groaned, following her out to the car.
"Jazz! Danno!" Jack shouted the second they left the house. "Wha- jeez Dad!" Danny hissed. "We're making breakfast, want some?!" Maddie shouted cheerfully, cracking an egg don't he sideway. Jazz winced, directing Danny towards the car. "Ummm... no thanks," She said, tugging her little brother along. "Take it easy today, alright?" She turned the car on, backing out of the FentonWorks driveway. "Yea, yea. Ghosts don't rest in any kinda weather, you know this!"
As it turns out, yes they do. With the intent to wreak havoc, the Box Ghost entered the school. He stole crates of paper, flying outside with them only to be shocked by the intensity of the sun. Danny Phantom flew out to fight him, but the ghost just flew for cover. "Huh. Guess Jazz was right." Danny mused, pulling his jumpsuit hood on. Flipping down his goggles that set a green filter over everything and scanning the area. Huh. There really were no ghosts out right now.The Box Ghost glared up at him from underneath a tree, fanning himself with a stack of printer paper. "Ummm. Okay." Danny flew back into the school, landing in the men's bathroom and transforming. He left the cool bathroom, entering the hallway now stuffed with hot, sweaty teenagers because of course the AC would be broken nothing in this school works!
Someone grabbed Danny and he almost flinched but Sam's head came up from the crowd beside him and he relaxed. "Danny- you are like- so cold," she stated, holding his arm tightly. "Um, thanks." he said blankly. "Where's Tucker?" "He was playing music loud at the end of class. Got detention. I think he meant to, there's a rumor they have fans in there," she replied, pulling at her shirt collar. "Speaking of, it was like, a thousand degrees outside! Even Boxy ran off the second he realised we'd have to fight in that type of heat!" The raven-haired teen huffed.
"But that isn't a problem for you, right? Ghost powers and all?" She whispered. "Yea, but not sunburn... sadly ice can't protect me from UV rays," He mumbled. "Buuut it can cool me down, right??" "Yes, it can." Danny sighed, rubbing his arm. Frost spread across his skin, leeching the disgusting heat away. Sam shivered when the soft sheen of crystal reached her hand on his elbow, and it spread as a sparkling blanket of wintry breath.
She exhaled, breath clouding as they walked out of school. "Ta-da!! I call it the Fenton AC," Danny said, pulling on a baseball hat. "Wow. You really work your magic, huh?""I do," he said proudly. "Wanna get some shakes from Nasty Burger? I could use it," the goth suggested. "Yea, let's-" Danny stopped himself as a trail of frosty air chilled his mouth, actually steaming as it drifted to the sky.
"On second thought... I'll catch up," he mumbled, ducking behind the dumpster to transform. Flying up and pulling his hood and goggles on, he spotted Desiree floating around a few students. Danny flew over to her, legs turning into a wispy black ghost tail as he sailed over. "Hey! Desiree! Whatcha up to on a day like this?!" He shouted cheerfully, pulling a mid-air summersault. She sighed, stopping her lazy circles. "Waiting for a poor soul to wish the heat away... or for someone to bring me an AC!"
"Um. Why don't you just stay at my house?" "Would you let a ghost stay in your house? How many times have we fought, child?" She raised an eyebrow. "Ahhhh, good point. Why don't you all go back to the Ghost Zone?" Desiree flipped upright, crossing her arms and glaring at him. "You tell me, ghost kid. Your parents closed the portal to protect it from the heat wave! We're all stuck with you!" She shouted angrily. "Sheesh, sorry! I don't control their actions! Why don't you just wish the sun away??" She scowled.
"That's not how this works!" Desiree shouted, diving at him. "Whoa!" Danny flew back. "Didn't mean to hit a nerve, there!" He called behind him, flying off to meet with Sam. "I'm going to have to ask her how genies work, aren't I..?"
Danny as already over it when Vlad decided to make an announcement to the public. "If he says he can control the weather again, I'm burning the town down," he grumbled. "Can you freeze it at least?" Tucker whined from his left side, Sam nodding in agreement from his right. "No, I can't freeze an entire town," Danny snapped, the shriek of a microphone gaining their attention. Vlad Masters, the town mayor, cleared his throat."Ahem! We are facing yet another ruthless heat wave! I advise you to stay indoors when possible, use proper sun protection, and keep your family and friends safe from the torrid heat!" "Thanks Danny..." both the raven-haired teen's friends mumbled from either side of him. Vlad continued. "However, thanks to the irrational weather patterns occurring, I am unsure when this unholy heat period will end. Please ration your water and use it wisely, as a drought is very possible in these conditions. Fear not, as I will fund any possible expense to continue to provide for this town!"
Danny was mad, sweaty, cranky, and starting to developed a nasty sunburn on his unprotected hands and arms. So sue him for wanting to be a bitch just then. "MAYOR MASTERS, CAN YOU CHANGE THE WEATHER FOR US AGAIN!?" He decided to call out then, and Vlad's eyes snapped on him. Eyebrows furrowing, he was about to speak when Dash yelled "YEA!! CAN YOU MAKE IT LESS HOTTER?!" "CAN'T YOU?!" Danny blinked. Grinning a bit. "Didn't mean to do that," he hummed innocently while the crowd literally started to revolt.
"Daniel Fenton, I love you," Sam smirked as Vlad flushed with embarrassment, backing from the microphone while trying to calm the angry town down. "Yea, I love myself too," the half-ghost nodded with satisfaction. "Wanna get outta this and play games at my house?? Mom's just got a whole tub of ice cream! And Vlad looks really pissed, so," Tucker backed away into the crowd. Danny nodded, grabbing Sam's arm and dragging her away when she tried to join the uproar.
"Aha! I won! Again! You're really bad at this," Tucker commented. Danny groaned and dropped his controller. "Seriously, Mario Automobile is like, the easiest game ever!" Sam joked. "Well sorry my skills aren't up to par Mr Savant," the half-ghost hissed. Tucker just smiled very smugly, crossing his arms over his chest and leaning back. "No prob, dude. Not all of us can be tech masters," he said with a self-satisfied huff. "Fuck you," Tucker gasped loudly, sitting up and spinning around to lean over Danny."Curse words in my Christian man cave!?" "Shut up," Danny pushed his face away, picking up his controller again.
