Keep in mind that this book has Coraline themes in it but its about creepypasta.
Your backstory - since I'm not gonna write it ALL down in one chapter - is that you were very close to Coraline as kids and had sleepovers often. After she moved your parents and hers agreed to you guys having one last sleepover at Coraline's new house. So you basically joined her to go to the other world and to defeat the other mother and save her parents. You were both helped by the black cat but that wasn't the last time you were gonna see him.
Your family life after that wasn't too good. Your dad got addicted to gambling and couldn't pay off all the debts which made him lose his job. After he lost his job your mom had to start one. She also had to take care of you, your brother, and your dad since he couldn't work anymore. That put a lot of stress on her and she became abusive. Your dad left your mom - died actually - shortly after, apparently he couldn't handle all the screaming matches and the stress so he kicked the bucket and left all his debt to you. It was hard to live like this, your mom had to keep selling furniture to feed you and your brother.
Although she was abusive, she still cared. Not because she wanted to, but she had to. By law (meaning she couldn't just leave you on the streets). She never took the abuse too far but abuse is still abuse. She slapped you very often but actually hitting you was rare. You defended your brother the whole time, always taking hits for him, even if he made the mess. Living with your mom soon ended when she dragged you to the orphanage and left you there, keeping your brother to live with her. You lived in the orphanage for more than half your life, until you got a stable job and left. Previously while you had lived there, you encountered the black cat multiple times until he saved you and he started to live with you in your now current home.
Now you're here, to pay your debt to him.
