Season 2 Episode 1: Bake it til you make it

A woman was preparing the final touch to her cupcakes. Strawberry sprinkles were about to be placed when someone came rushing behind her and chloroformed her. She was never seen at the bakery again.

Her body was found a few days later with a note on her dismembered self. Melissa wrote down some notes about the location of the body and the cuts to her back. She got the note for evidence. "This would help identify the killer." She thought almost with uncertainty. These baking competitions can be hard. She would need to interview almost everyone involved in this competition. She didn't want to include the recruits soon in the investigation but since they are around, it wouldn't hurt.

Fern smiled upon arrival. "Great to see you, Melissa! How's the kid?" Melissa was quiet. Fern nodded his head. "Alright then, I'll leave them with you. Please let nothing happen to them." Melissa assured him that nothing would happen. However, it would not surprise Melissa if one of these teens wandered off.

She took note of everyone. Good, they are all here. Bob (Blocky) seemed annoyed. Ferdinand and Lily eagerly looked around the scene. There were tv sets and other studios around the lot. Golf carts drove far behind.

"Where are we?" Lily asked. A guy walked over to the group. "You are in Goodstar Studios! This is where the best film and show are made!" He noticed the police and dropped his usual greeting. "You must be here for the-" Melissa stopped him, "Oh I already looked over the body I just brought the investigation into the rest of the team. We will have another look and then we will be out of your hair." The man nodded.

Melissa took a quick pace to the body and asked for the cleanup crew to wait. George was shocked and said "Woah! What happened to her?" Melissa sighed, "someone murdered her."

Melissa look at others. She could tell the girls who were next to each other, Penny and Maltida, seemed repulsed by the smell and sight of the corpse. "I just now realized that your father wants me to look for more of that goo. Can you two in the back go look for it?" Matilda practically beelined. "Way ahead of ya." Penny followed her.

Bob studied the body. "These cuts to her back, seems like someone was trying to attack somewhere else. They are all over the place." "Wow, how did you know that?" Giovanni appeared. "That's exactly what I am thinking."

Melissa then put a hand on Giovanni. "This is Giovanni. Gio for short. They go by they/them pronouns."

Bob and George exchanged glances. Giovanni smiled, "yeah I am non-binary and I am strangely fascinated by the detective's work. So much so that we became friends." They nearly giggled. George was confused. "I don't understand how someone gets pronouns." Giovanni looked at him, trying to remain calm at the comment. "It is what I like to go by. If you don't go by my pronouns then we will have a hard time working together. Okay?" George held up a nervous thumbs-ups. They were intimidating yes, but as long as they were respected they might just be the most friendly human being yet.

"Alright back to the body, victim is Mickayla Sweeny. She was preparing a cupcake recipe when she was attacked from behind."

Lily gulped. "Well have we found who did it yet?" Melissa didn't quite know what to say. Giovanni smiled. "No sister we haven't." Lily panicked, "what if we are their next victim?" Melissa nearly groaned. "This isn't a serial killer Lily, at most it is someone who wanted Sweeny dead."

Lily rubbed her hands together. "Where do we start?" Melissa looked around. "Well you can start by searching the scene. If you see anything let us know." George smiled rather gleefully. "Oh boy search time!"

Hours passed. The girls returned. There was no goo to be found and it looked like there wasn't much to go off of until...

"Think I might have found something!" Everyone headed towards Ferdinand. "That is aluminum foil, how's that helpful?" Bob was still annoyed. Melissa took the aluminum foil piece with one hand. "Maybe it has prints."
