It was Dillon's first day working as a butler at Northumberland Palace. He woke up early and got dressed in his smart new uniform. He was nervous, but also excited to start his new job.
Dillon's first task was to bring Princess Elodie her breakfast. He carefully prepared the tray with tea, toast, and fruit, and headed up to the princess's bedroom. When he arrived, he knocked on the door and called out, "Your breakfast, Your Highness."
As Dillon entered the room, he noticed that Princess Elodie's dress zipper was stuck. She was struggling to get dressed, unaware that her new servant had arrived. Without thinking, Dillon stepped forward to try and help.
"Oh, where's Anna?!" exclaimed the princess, surprised to see a man in her private chambers. She quickly pulled her dress closed, resisting Dillon's attempts to assist her.
He adjusted his black bowtie, "Anna's gone," he mentioned.
"What do you mean she's gone and who are you?" she was confused.
"Anna is quitting and I am Dillon, your new servant in-charge," told him.
She smirked at him, "No way, you're a man and I would not let any man touch me," she resisted.
But Dillon did not back down, despite the princess's stubbornness. He politely insisted on helping, determined to fulfill his duties as a butler. After some back-and-forth, the princess finally allowed Dillon to fix her zipper.
"Hmm, it appears the zipper has caught on the fabric. Let me see if I can carefully work it loose." Dillon placed one hand on Elodie's back to steady the dress, and with the other, he gently eased the zipper down, bit by bit.
"Please, do it quickly !" Elodie urged.
Elodie held her breath, hoping Dillon could free her from her fashion crisis. After a few tense moments, the zipper finally slid down smoothly, and the dress fell perfectly into place.
"There we are, Your Highness. Good as new," Dillon said with a satisfied smile.
Elodie let out a sigh of relief. "Thank you, Dillon."
"It was my pleasure, Princess. I'm just glad I could be of assistance." Dillon bowed respectfully.
Then, an awkward silence fell over the room. Princess Elodie eyed the new butler suspiciously, not used to having a man serve her so intimately.
"I, uh, I've brought your breakfast, Your Highness," Dillon said, breaking the silence as he set the tray down on a nearby table.
The princess hesitated, then slowly approached the breakfast tray. "Thank you," she said, her tone cautious. She sat down at her vanity and began to pick at the food, all the while stealing glances at Dillon.
Dillon stood patiently by, waiting to see if the princess needed anything else. He could sense her discomfort with his presence, but he remained calm and professional.
Suddenly, the princess turned to face him. "You're rather bold, aren't you? Most servants know better than to intrude on a lady's private chambers uninvited."
Dillon straightened his posture. "My apologies, Your Highness. I was only trying to fulfill my duties as your new butler. I meant no offense."
The princess studied him for a moment, then let out a small sigh. "Well, I suppose I should be grateful you were able to assist me. It would have been most undignified to parade around the palace in a half-dressed state."
"Of course, Your Highness," Dillon replied with a slight bow. "I am here to serve you in any way I can."
Princess Elodie nodded, then turned her attention back to her breakfast.
From that moment on, Dillon knew this would be no ordinary butler job. Working for the Princess Elodie was going to be a constant challenge. But Dillon was up for it - he was determined to do an excellent job.
