Mutual

It had been 2 months. 2 months to the day since Mattheo and I had broken up. It had been a mutual break up, both of us thought it was for the better if we parted ways, but now that I have spent time away from him I have realized we were both wrong.

"Come on Y/n hurry up", My best friend Daphne drags me to the common room, "we need to get back before the crowd so we can get our good spot"

I don't say anything as she drags me through the entrance and sits us down at our normal spot right by the fire place.

"Fuck, I can't look", I say as Mattheo walks in with Astoria Greengrass on his arm. (Daphne's little sister)

"She's such a spoiled little brat", Daphne grits her teeth.

"Maybe we should just go to our dorm", I say as Mattheo sits down and Astoria takes a seat on his lap.

"Yeah before I barf all over the common room", Daphne grumbles standing up and heading up the stairs to our dorm.

I flop down on my bed grabbing my book, so I can clear my head when someone knocks on the door. I groan as I had just laid down and pick myself up to open the door. I was surprised when I opened it to find Draco standing there with a nervous look on his face.

"Um Hi Draco. You okay?", I ask skeptically as I look at him.

"Yes, Y/n could you help me with something? It's in my dorm", he says grabbing my wrist and pulling me out of Daphne and I's room.

"Sure...", Draco Malfoy was certainly not one to ask for help especially not from me. We reach the door and Draco slams the door behind me.

"Get back together with Mattheo", he says abruptly.

"What?!?", I say startled.

"It's killing him. The crying at night, it's getting annoying.", he says crossing his arms and leaning against the wall.

"He has a girlfriend", I say.

"She's a rebound. I swear he pretends she's you"

"Well what am I supposed to do?", I say copying his stance.

"Tell him you still love him? You do don't you?"

"Yes", I sigh.

"Okay", he smirks, "so tell him"

I walk over to Draco, "I'll do it if you tell me exactly what to say"

"Y/n, please you both want this just do it"

"You're a psychopath, Draco", I huff storming out of his dorm.

"Wait!", he says.

"What", I huff.

"Never mind", he says.

I roll my eyes and walk out of his dorm.

Instead of going back to Daphne and I's dorm I go down to the common room to find Mattheo and Astoria making out on one of the couches.

"I can't do this", I mumble about to turn around, but then realize I needed to ask Pansy a question about charms homework.

However, I couldn't help but watch as Draco tells Astoria something and she storms off. Then Draco says something to Mattheo and both of them look at me at the same time. I quickly look away and turn my attention to some 1st years doing some homework. What could they be talking about?

"Well L/n what do you have to say?", Mattheo walks up to me with no hesitation.

"What did Draco tell you?", I say fiddling with my hands.

"He told me you had something to tell me", Mattheo says crossing his arms, "is this some big joke what's going on?"

"Well", I start deciding to go out on a limb "Draco has been telling me that you've been sad lately and-"

"This is fucking stupid", Mattheo huffs walking away from me.

"Wait", I say grabbing his hand.

He stops in place at the feeling of my touch.

"I've been a mess too. I guess we're both just good at hiding it. I guess all I'm trying to say is I miss you", and with that I walk away leaving Mattheo in a state of shock.

The next morning the whole school seems to be whispering. I sit down next to Daphne at breakfast at my usually spot.

"Have you heard?", she says grabbing my arm.

"No...", I say grabbing a piece of toast. She grabs my sleeve pulling me towards her and whispers in my ear.

"Mattheo and Astoria broke up and no one knows why", I choke on my toast.

"They really did???", I say flabbergasted.

She nods her head smirking.

"I've gotta go", I say abruptly running out of the great hall. I rush to the Slytherin common rooms and instead of turning right to the girls dorms I take a left to the boys.

I fling open the door to Mattheo, Draco, Theo, and Enzo's dorm and find Mattheo with only his robe pants on.

"Hi", I say realizing I didn't think this through at all.

"Hey", he smirks looking me up and down.

"I heard you and Astoria broke up . Do you mind me asking why?", I say crossing my arms.

"Well it was a mutual agreement. How did you know I wasn't in the great hall?"

"You don't eat breakfast. Mutual agreement?", I muse, "what does that mean?"

"Well I told her there was someone else that I'd like to pursue and she got very pissed and told me to fuck off. So I guess she actually broke up with me"

"Mmm I see", I say walking out the door, "I guess I'll just go..."

"Just get over here", he says sitting down on his bed.

I leap into his arms.
