The demon grinned at Haruto, his grin made it more fearful for the former pillar as he tries to find a way out of the demon's sight without causing a harm for his daughter.

What should I do?

"You always know" the demon chuckled "You always know how to make me angry. Tell me, former Hashira. Are you that stupid to think that I'll let you escape with your family?"

His eyes glared at the man angrily and now he glanced at the fearful child in his arms, the demon simply hum at the little girl in sight before looking back at the former pillar. And soon to be dead meat once he gets an access around the village, Muzan's low ranked demons are making their way to form an attack. To break this village, with an uppermoon leading the chaos. Many lives would go to waste.

Maybe even wipe out the whole village if they're at it.

"That child, he loves that child." The uppermoon told him "Give up that child, I tell you. Give up that child to him and none of this will happen."

Haruto frowned at the demon in front of him "What makes you think that I will ever give my daughter to you?"

The uppermoon simply snicker in amusement, his eyes flickered with danger as he slowly approach the trembling chief. He never understood humans and their will to protect others when they can simply decide on saving themselves so nothing extravagant happens.

He stop his walk when he was finally close enough to the former pillar "Don't you want to know what consequences are there?"

"Your village will rot, I'll make sure that each of your people die in the hands of my fellow demons. Give her to me, or face the fall of your people."

"You will never take her away–"

"Douma-sama! The south side of the village is already taken down, should we continue?" Haruto's eyes widen at the news brought by a disgusting demon.

The village is already infested with demons, he could see fire burning up some of the parts of his protected home. Screams and cries could be heard despite the distance, Haruto couldn't do anything when he's cornered by an uppermoon.  His eyes looked around for any escape but to no use as demons are already surrounding his area, this brought him no choice but to wield his sword. Even if it meant risking his daughter's safety.

A little scratch or injury wouldn't be harmful to her, I must get to the village.

"Breath of frost: Final form, Hoar Frost!"

His breathing technique caused the demons to freeze in their place at the cold feeling his attack, this gave him and opportunity to escape the uppermoon and the others as he ran fast towards the entrance of the village.

The entrance brought him grief when he saw a lot of his people down on the snowy ground, drowning in their pool of blood. Haruto felt devastation as he look around the village, most of the house are burned to ashes and some of his people are still fighting against some low ranked demons. He quickly sets his daughter down with a worried look.

"My love" he called his child worriedly "You know the way of our home, right?"

The confused girl stared at her father "I do papa, but why?"

Her father kneel down before her, giving her a kiss on the top of her head in comfort.

"My sweet child, I need you to look for your mother and stay with her while I help our people. Whatever you do, don't ever look back. You hear me?"

She nod at her father who only smiled at her in return.

"I love you [First Name], tell mama that I love her too. Now go!"

Haruto finally pushed her gently, ushering her to run as he stood up and turn to walk where the demons are currently causing chaos.

Whatever you do, don't look back.

...

You sat up from your futon in panic, your eyes looking around the area only to see Douma staring at you in amusement.

"Look at you" he snicker "You look like you've been attacked by hundreds of demons."

Douma made a zipping gesture when you gave him a dark glare, making fun of you waking up in a panicked state wasn't what you needed at the moment yet he has the nerve to even tease you. What was he even doing there? And why is he even alive? You should have set some traps before going home, he wouldn't be here if the sun is kind enough to raise the moment you left the area earlier. But he's smart, after all he wouldn't be an uppermoon if he weren't.

Well, you still think of him as a stupid demon so it doesn't really matter.

"What did you dream of?" Douma ask in interest as he moved closer to your face "Was it about me?"

You gave him a face of disgust before pushing his face "I did not dream of you, I simply felt fear and panic that's why I woke up."

Really now? Douma stared at your shivering figure with a raised brow, feeling weird that you felt such thing without having such dreams. Should he ask if it was a nightmare instead? Aren't they the same? Just that nightmare is a negative version of a dream, but who cares. It doesn't matter, he's just curious.

"Very well" he reply, his eyes looking down at you and to the door.

He'd be leaving later on to have a discussion with Muzan regarding you, Douma wouldn't say it out loud. He still couldn't inform you whatever is going on between him and his master, his confusion about the situation still evident as he stood up from his seat. Mind in a haze before his lips open to speak.

"Lotus."

Your head perked up at him when he called you, curiosity filled your gaze as you look at Douma expectantly.

"I'll have to leave when night comes, I suppose that you won't be causing trouble for me. Yeah?"

You rolled your eyes at his words, you? Cause trouble? How hypocrite.

"The only one who causes any trouble is you." He simply chuckle at your comeback, not wanting to deal with you for a bit.

"Right" he snicker.

"The only who causes trouble is me."
