POV AERI
It was around 11 pm when Aeri finally left the building where she was shooting an interview, after her first solo shoot for a famous magazine. She entered the car and greeted the manager who was behind the wheel, waiting for her to drive her home.
Aeri was listening to music and watching the cloudy sky and how the empty streets were lonely and somehow relaxing. She could see the rustle of trees as the rain began to fall, just a gentle drizzle hitting the cars windows. "The packed schedule today took all my energy away" she thinks, as she fights to stay awake. She couldn't wait to be back home in her bed.
When Aeri opened the door of the dorm, she saw Jimin sitting on the couch while watching tv in the living room. Jimin waved at her besides being too focused on the screen. Aeri waved back and noticed Minjeong and Ning weren't there, probably sleeping in their own shared bedroom.
After her shower and changing into comfortable pajamas, she decided she didn't have any energy to stay up after a late night snack, so she just ate an apple and went to the bedroom she shared with Jimin.
She was slowly falling asleep when she heard the thunder. An explosion-like sound. Her mind went blank. There was nothing but fear. A paralysing overwhelming fear. She curled up into a ball, hidden under a blanket, eyes screwed shut. She tried to breathe, rationalising the weather outside.
"It's just a storm."
"It's not a big deal."
Another thunder came from the sky, vibrating the windows in their frames and all concept of rational thoughts escaped through the still shaking panes of glass.

POV JIMIN
It was almost 1 am and Jimin was watching the last chapter of her fave k-drama before going to bed. She assumes that it might have been the sound of the wind and the rain banging on the windows that drove her attention off the tv. Right after that, a wicked crack of thunder sounded directly overhead, making Jimin quiver for a second and think about her roommate who just went to bed.
Jimin knew Aeri was scared of thunderstorms.
Jimin didn't know if she should go and check.
"What if Aeri is sleeping?" she thought, but that couldn't be possible because the thunderstorms were loud enough to wake people up. Especially her.
Jimin gets up from the couch and walks to the hall, standing in front of the bedroom door. She pushes the door slowly and opens it making sure to not disturb her roommate or scare her. She carefully walks closer to where the bed was and stops in her tracks when she hears faint sounds of sobs filling the room. The older girl saw how Aeri was covered completely by the blanket, she flinched and let out another gasp with each thunderclap, the sight broke Jimin's heart.
"Aeri?" she softly says before settling to the edge of the bed, her hand slowly reaching out to pull the blanket from Aeri.
"Jimin unnie?" Aeri whispers, uncovering her face, her eyes being a little puffy from crying.
"The thunders, right?" Jimin asked sweetly.
"Yes" Aeri whispered in a hoarse voice.
"Want me to stay here with you till it ends?" Jimin asked in a soft voice. Aeri slowly nodded, kinda embarrassed.
Jimin settles in Aeri's bed with her elbow on the pillow and hand on her head for support as the younger girl moves away to maintain space. The older girl took one of Aeri's hand, softly rubbing her fingers in a soothing gesture.
"You're shaking" Jimin whispers worriedly. She found herself scooting closer as she wrapped her arms around Aeri, patting her back gently and whispering soft words in her ear "it's fine, I'm here with you" she says to Aeri.
The short peaceful moment was interrupted by a loud thunder which startled both of them, especially Aeri who couldn't help but to snuggle into Jimin's chest, her own arm wrapping around the older girl's waist, eyes shut in fear.
"It's okay, I'm here. You are safe, okay? I won't let anything happen to you." The older girl was speaking in a calm, low voice. Jimin looked at the girl who was so close to her now, she could feel the warmth radiating from her body.
After some minutes the thunders stops and the two of them are almost about to fall asleep. Jimin hear the girl beside her sigh in content at the circles Jimin was drawing on her back.
"Do you feel better?" the older girl asks while searching Aeri's face in the dark "I do, thank you Jimin unnie" Aeri says against the older girl's clothes in a small voice.
"Anytime, jagi" Jimin said and placed a kiss on the top of her head, which makes Aeri open a shy smile and close her eyes in comfort.
Sure that Aeri was asleep, Jimin rearranged them on the small bed. She felt Aeri return tightly to her side and got up from the bed taking care to not wake her up. While getting on her own bed, she looked back at Aeri sleeping safe and sound and whispered in a soft smile.
"Goodnight, baby."
