August 29, 1958

Katherine sat up quickly as the telephone loudly woke her and Joseph. She rubbed her eyes and turned on the lamp before finally picking up the phone.

"Hello?"
Katherine yawned a bit listening to the voice about to speak on the other end.

"Katherine.. oh Katherine it's time. I am on the way to the hospital!"
Leanne frantically rushed telling her on the phone before hanging up and rushing out to Mrs. Washington's car.

Her husband graciously offered to drive her to hospital since Lewis was no where to be found at 3 in morning.

When Leanne arrived to the hospital she was greeted by very kind nurses who assured her she was in good hands.

Everything seemed like a blur. Leanne got hooked up to all these machines and IV's, then it seemed her contractions grew more and more intense every second, and finally before she knew it she was pushing out her baby girl.

Little did Leanne know Katherine immediately made Joesph drive her to the hospital so she can be a supportive visitor to her friend.

Leanne snapped into reality when her baby girl cried. She was officially a mom. They place her on her chest and she stared at her daughter in awe. It seemed like an eternity but it was only a few minutes before the nurses took her for tests.

"I'll see you when you get back... Ah'leah James."
Leanne whispered as her daughter left the room in a rolling bassinet with the nurses.

Outside in the waiting area Katherine stood up to head to the desk for an update. When she did immediately a sharp pain hit her causing her to drop back down into her seat. Joseph sprung to action getting the nurses alerted to get Katherine now immediately into a room.

Katherine had a similar experience but she was more focused on every moment. She did not want to forget a single thing as her son was being born.

"Miss James, you had a visitor out front but she went into labor. I just wanted you know you had a lot of support. That young lady waited all that time."
A nurse peaked her head in Leanne's room as she tried to get Ah'leah to latch since she had been brought back in the room.

"Please let me know when her baby is here... I want our babies to meet the second we are able."
Leanne smiles through teary eyes knowing now more than ever how true of a friend Katie was.

Meanwhile, Katherine had her turn pushing which was bit longer than Leanne but it was worth it once her son, Michael was on her chest doing skin to skin. Everyone gushed over him.

The nurse who spoke to Leanne earlier came into Katherine's room.

"Mrs. Jackson. Once little Michael is clean up and checked out. I was wondering if you'd be open to switching rooms... sharing with a special roommate?"
The nurse grinned as Katherine looked at Joeseph who had a blank stare.

"Yes, indeed I would."
Katherine smacked her teeth at Joe but smiled once she looked back at the nurse knowing exactly who she was speaking of.

The staff could not get Michael settled quick enough and seemed more excited than Katherine and Leanne were.

While Michael was getting his final check ups Katherine was moved into Leanne's room. The minute she came in they instantly beamed at each other.

"Leanne... has.."

"No Katie, he has not been here. But I am not worried. My daughter will have all the love in the world from you, myself, your children, and of course... what did you name him?"

"Michael."

"Ah'leah is her name."
Leanne rubbed her sleeping babies back and Katherine heard footsteps and saw Michael being settled in her bassinet beside her.

"Hello ladies I brought another nurse. We can hold the babies near each other because no lifting for you both yet."

The ladies nodded and took the nurses up on their offer. The each carefully took the babies and held them side by side as both Mom's cried happily.

"Katie.. I'll be in the cafeteria."
Joe said interrupting this beautiful moment.

Katie huffed at her husband's behavior but tried not to let it ruin her whole mood.

Leanne looked at Katherine.

"Katie... no one will ever break us or our children apart. You hear me?"
Leanne pointed to the babies still being yep together.

Katherine nodded quickly wiping a tear that had escaped from her eye.

"Never!"
Katie stated before both ladies turned their attention back to their loving newborns.
