I hear the sounds dancing all around my senses. I couldn't breathe. Every step you took felt like danger. Something about you seemed too much. I almost wanted to run, but I scolded myself for that. Why would I run? I was told to be here. He walked past me, not even glancing my way. I let out the breath I didn't know I was holding.
I never wanted to come to this thing, but I could never say no to alice. She had this way of wrapping me around her finger.
"Just for a little while." Alice pouted
"You know I don't like parties." I pointed out to her.
"Oh, come on!" She says, flinging her hands in the air."You always say that, but then have a great time once you're there."
I sigh at her. "If standing around bored drinking wine is your definition of me having fun, I really need to liven myself."
"You absolutely do, but we can come back to that." She grabs my hands and gives me her puppiest eyes. "Please, I'm begging you. My dad is making me go, and I don't want to go alone." I always hated the parties Alice had to attend. Stuffy, uncomfortable, and snobbish company. Still looking into her tearful brown eyes, I could already feel myself giving in.
"You always ditch me at these, and I end up looking like a lost child waiting for you. Do I really need to go?"
"Yes. You need to go and look stunning." She said with her most serious of faces. I rolled my eyes at her. "Fine, but you owe me. I get one favor of my choosing anytime in the future. Also, you better feed me they never serve enough at these things. "
Alice's eye lit up, and she grabbed me in a rough hug. "Deal! It starts at 6 pm so I'll pick you up around 4 pm to get ready."
With that, she released me and left.I got up and dishearteningly walked myself to my next class. I should really start bringing something to entertain myself with while at these. Maybe bring a book.
That'll look classy. Sky high heels with a big book in hand. I snickered. What a sight I'd be to them. I'll just have to hope this one will be better than the last. I shiver, remembering the clammy hands of one of the cousins or nephews.Classes passed quicker than I wanted. It seems that when you want time to stop, it only ticks faster. Before I knew it, my last class was over, and Alice was stealing me away. I sigh as she sits me in her makeup chair for the umpteenth time this year.
"I get you need someone to go with you, but do I need to go all out again??" I pouted. It wasn't so much that I hated makeovers as it was that I was exhausted by them at this point. It wasn't like I needed one either. I wasn't gorgeous, but I knew I was pretty. I'd been complimented numerous times how beautiful I looked even on my most lazy of days.
"Of course you do. I need you to look good so I look good. Your beauty elevates my beauty." Alice said while flattering her hands about her face.
I roll my eyes. "If you get any prettier, we'll have to hire bodyguards to keep men from throwing themselves at you." There was no talking her out of it. I leaned back in the chair and accepted my fate.
