FIVE. It had only been five days and Nessa was back to normal. She was still bleeding, though that was to be expected. She had thought about the other miscarriages she had suffered, and she felt bad. She felt bad because she had been glad that she had miscarried. She could've never had those spawns, because that was what they were to her, spawns from evil. The two worst men in the world raping her and impregnating her only begat spawns, not babies. Men like Lucas created babies and she had lost it.

PUNISHMENT. Perhaps losing the baby was her punishment. Lilian had told her that God or whatever greater power she believed in would never punish like that. It was life taking its course and nothing more. Punishment had been what Justin and Thomas had done to her. She had been punished enough and Lilian firmly believed that she would carry to full term next time.

Nessa sat at Mac's desk where she always sat. He wouldn't leave her at home alone after the miscarriage. They hadn't talked about Reagan and what had happened, and she was glad. Lucas had been so angry at her. He had also been sad and Nessa knew that she had disappointed him.

The intercom beeped, and Tom's voice filled the office. "Mrs. McAllister, your mother-in-law is on line one."

No matter how many times she told Tom that she was not married to Lucas he wouldn't stop calling her Mrs. McAllister.

"Thanks Tom." Nessa took the receiver and smiled. "Lilian, how are you?"

"I'm doing great. I have to ask you a favor darling, and it's a big one and embarrassing for me to have to ask."

Nessa smiled cheekily, was Lilian actually getting the nerve up to finally pay attention to Ryder's advances? It was obvious that the man was head over heels for her and Nessa knew that she also liked him, but the twelve-year difference made Lilian stop herself. There was nothing wrong with a fifty-two- year old woman dating a forty-year old man, but Lilian was still skeptical about it.

"What is it, how can I help?" Nessa leaned back on the chair and propped her feet up on the desk. It wasn't very lady like; she didn't care. She was alone, and her feet were tired.

"Lucas is in a really bad mood. He has been barking at everyone around him for the last couple of days," Lilian said.

Nessa laughed. "I hear you loud and clear." She hung up the phone and took her cell phone out and dialed Lucas' number.

He answered on the second ring like he always did. "Yeah, baby,"

"I need you back at the office now."

"Is everything okay, are you—" Lucas stopped speaking and began barking orders at someone. He was in a real foul mood. "Sorry, yeah, I'll be there in a few hours—"

"Now, Mac." Nessa cut the call and put her phone on the desk and went back to looking at the ideas that Reagan had come up with to make the Escort business safer for the girls and more appealing to the men.

The door to the office opened and Lucas walked in frowning. "What was so important that I had to leave—"

"Don't you bark at me, Mac," she snapped at his harsh tone. "Close the door and sit on the couch." She ordered him.

"What are you doing, Nessa, I have a lot to do today and I don't have time—"

"Mac, so help me if you don't sit down on that couch the fish will be feeding for a whole day," she said through set teeth. She walked over to him and took his suit jacket off.

"Woman, have you seen the size of me?" He sat down on the couch and looked at Nessa smiling.

"Fine, a few months." She leaned down and kissed him hard on the lips. Lucas didn't waste any time, he devoured her mouth and tasted her sweet tongue, but pulled back the moment he began to get aroused. He was miserable not being able to make love to her.
