"I'm so sorry, Adhiraj. I didn't have any choice,"I whispered to the empty room, the guilt tearing through me. "It was necessary to make you feel shattered enough to focus on our child... not on me."
"I didn't even know I was pregnant. I didn't have time to think.I was not in the condition to think."
I bit back a sob, staring at the cold, lifeless space around me. "I know you won't forgive me," I continued, voice breaking. "But one day, Adhiraj... one day, I'll make it up to you. When the time is right, I'll tell you everything. You'll know why I had to do this."
I fell asleep with tears streaking my face, haunted by the weight of my choices and the man I'd hurt.
A sharp knock on the door woke me.
"Ji," I called groggily.
"It's me, beta," came Aarti Maa's familiar voice.
I stumbled out of bed and opened the door.
"Did you sleep well?" she asked, her gaze warm but probing.
"Ji, Maa," I lied, offering a weak smile.
"Where is Adhiraj?" she asked, placing clothes and jewelry neatly on the bed.
"I don't know," I replied, my voice barely steady. "He left last night and hasn't come back."
Aarti Maa's expression softened with concern. "Something happened?"
I nodded, unable to find words.
She sighed and placed a comforting hand on my cheek. "Don't worry, beta. He's like this—he runs when something becomes too heavy for his heart. Give him time. He'll return. For now, get ready and come downstairs."
I forced a nod, clutching her warmth like a lifeline. In the bathroom, I stood under the warm water, allowing it to wash over me, though it did little to ease the ache in my chest. I wrapped myself in a red saree, a color that felt too bold for the emptiness inside me.
I stepped downstairs and found Vineet Uncle sitting in the living room. His smile was warm, yet his eyes held a trace of concern.
"He left," I whispered as I approached him. "He found out about the abortion."
Vineet Uncle smiled softly, giving my hand a reassuring squeeze. "Good morning, beta," he said. "Let him go. He'll come back. He always does."
"Why can't I tell him?" I asked, my voice barely audible. "He's my husband now. He deserves to know."
"He won't let it happen. Adhiraj won't let a single scratch touch you, Tranika. Sending you away, not knowing if you'll ever come back—it would drive him mad. He'll never allow it. Never. You think he'll let you walk into danger? He'd rather lock you in this house, suffocate you with his control, and keep you here forever—even if it kills you.Even after finding out about Anirudh, he still chose to keep you.Adhiraj isn't the kind of man who forgives—neither betrayal nor lies. But despite everything, he married you. He chose you Can't you see what that means? It's not just love—it's something darker, something unyielding. He would burn the entire world to keep you by his side. And if you ever try to leave... You already know how dangerous he can be."Uncle said with seriousness dripping from every single word.
