"I will tell you, but not here. Let's go to your parents. It's time for me to step into Rana Mansion after almost a decade," Choti Maa said.
I obeyed.
Every step we took toward the house felt heavier than the last. The grand doors of Rana Mansion loomed ahead, but they no longer felt welcoming. The walls that once echoed with laughter now stood as silent witnesses to resentment, betrayal, and hatred.
As we entered, the sight before us was exactly what I expected—everyone was gathered in the hall. But the tension in the air was suffocating.
I didn't miss the way Reyansh's jaw tightened, his fists clenching at his sides. His fury was evident, and I knew immediately—Maa must have said something else, something worse.
Then, her voice cut through the silence.
"Aishwariya."
Maa stood up, her expression unreadable. There was something in her eyes—shock, disbelief...
Beside me, Choti Maa exhaled sharply, the corner of her lips lifting in a humorless smirk.
"Ji, Anuradha ji. Yaad kiya hume?" Her tone was calm, but beneath it simmered a restrained anger.
"How are you alive?" Maa said
A short, bitter laugh escaped Choti Maa's lips.
"Do you care?" she asked, tilting her head slightly, as if challenging Maa to answer truthfully.
"Of course, I do," Maa said, her tone laced with confusion .
Choti Maa's expression turned cold. "That is why you didn't even came to see me? That house is just ten steps ahead, Anuradha ji. It would have taken you less than a minute."
Maa's eyes flashed with anger. "I don't want to see Tranika," she snapped.
I felt my father tense beside me.
"Anuradha," Dad warned, his voice low.
But Choti Maa raised a hand, stopping him.
"Bolne dijiye, Bhaisahab," she said, her voice steady but filled with a sharp edge. "Main bhi toh dekhun, das saal mein kitna zeher bhar gaya hai aap sabke dil mein. Aur aap bhi beech mein na hi bole toh accha hai."
I nearly let out a breath of shock.
Did she just give a shut-up call to Harshvardhan Rana?
Oh my God.
I had only ever seen two women do this—first, Choti Maa. And second... my wife.
Maa's hands clenched into fists. "You don't even know what she did." Her hatred dripped from every word.
Choti Maa didn't flinch. "What did she do?"
"She killed my daughter," Maa spat, her voice shaking with rage.
