I woke up on the floor with a box full of clothes open. I stretched out my arms checking the clock. I sprang to my feet realizing today was my first day of school. I ran and got a shower coming down rummaging through the boxes finding something half presentable for school. Soon I was on my way to school I parked outside grabbing my bag from the back. I sighed not enjoying my first day already, I walked in the front doors managing to find the office. I was greeted by chaos, people were upset demanding they needed to talk to the principal. Others needed to get forms to to leave early. When I finally found someone to help I meekly said my name, she shoved my paper in my hand without a word spoken. I left trying to read the paper for my locker, it was no use I was confused.

"Need any help there?" An all too familiar voice asked behind me, his scent followed shortly after. I knew Nate would probably be the only one to help me so I spun around.

"Yeah, I really need it." I said running a hand through my hair. He nodded taking the paper from me. A frown flashed on my face annoyed by his abruptness.

"Follow me." without another word he was down the hallway turning to face a locker. "Here we go locker 194." a smiled flashed on his face. I try and give one back but I couldn't feel appreciative.

"Thanks." I mumbled putting my things in the locker. "May I have the paper back now?" I attempted to grab it when he turned away from me, a low growl escapes my lips.

"No, I want to see if we have any classes." He said scanning over the sheet, with a sigh he said "we only have lunch and science together." I silently rejoiced knowing I would only have to see him for two hours a day.

"Hey Nate!" A girl maybe a year younger butted herself into the conversation. Nate smiled at her. My stomach turned watching him interact with her, how he already so much nicer to her?

"Hello Lacy, how are you?" He spoke shifting his attention to her. I stood silently trying to figure out who she was, she smelled of wolf but was she from the same pack as Nate? Obviously she was or she wouldn't be so friendly. I felt uncomfortable with Nate and Lacey. I started checking out other people around. I was snapped out of my thoughts when I heard my name being called. I sharply turned my head towards the now three people standing in front of me. I saw a boy who I wasn't going to lie was pretty freaking cute, my cheeks turned pink and I shifted my weight.

"Hey, sorry, zoned out for a second, nice to meet you I'm Amber." I said looking at both of them. The unnamed boy smiled pulling me into a hug then I heard a low growl come from Nate, I rolled my eyes.

"I'm Tomas it's a pleasure to meet you." he said with that I felt a hand snake around my waist.

"Guys, this is my mate." Nate said seeming to be very upset with the situation. I pulled his hand off of me. This wasn't actually happening to me my first day at this school.

"No, I'm not anyone's mate." I said trying to keep my voice down. I saw Nates eyes turn a few shades darker.

"I'm an Alpha, I wouldn't make a mistake like who my own mate is." I stood shocked he was an Alpha. Actually it made a little bit of sense, I hadn't smelled one in years, and it explained why he acts like this. I was about to retaliate but I knew it was no use at least not in this situation.

"Anyways it was really nice to meet you, but I think the bell for homeroom is about to ring, so, bye." I started to walk away when Lacey caught up to me.

"Hey I think we are going to the same homeroom, Ms. Bukavac right?" She said practically bouncing next to me. I smiled widely I may not know her very well but it was a lot more than no one else to talk to. I couldn't get a read on her from her smell either so it was best to stay neutral with her.

"Yeah I am do you know if we have any other classes together?" I question as she shrugs.

"We might, I just knew we were getting someone new in homeroom. Here let me see your paper ." She said just taking the paper for herself. "Yeah we have Gym together and Tomas, you, and I all have history and science together." She tosses the paper back walking in a room, I follow behind assuming it's our homeroom. I take a seat next to Lacey, today really hasn't been the best day. After homeroom Lacey helped me to my first class of the day. History wasn't too bad I was fairly good at it. But instead of listening Tomas, Lacey, and I sat in the back chatting.

"I can't believe we have to sit through another movie." Lacey groaned as Tomas and I play Chinese hot hands. I wouldn't say the three of us were friends, but they were the closest thing I had to friends. Tomas chuckled as he hit my hands. I hissed back, it hurt more than expected.

"It's better than listening to one of her speeches." I tried to hit his hand failing. It's not like I knew anything about the teacher, but movies are always better.

"Class is over in 1 minute 16 seconds." Lacey announced out of the blue, she always seemed all over the place. Tomas and I nodded as the bell rang, I quickly grabbed my stuff heading to science with Lacey and Tomas. We walked in finding Nate at the back of the classroom writing something in a notebook, he immediately stopped seeing us walk in. The three of us walked back sitting down the order was Nate, Lacey, Tomas, then me. Again the class was uneventful, minus Nate's growling every time Tomas and I would talk. The rest of the day was the same, boring and nothing interesting happened. After the final bell Lacey ran over to me at my car.

"Hey, the pack is going to be having some fun in the woods tonight you should join." I shook my head, their is no way I would do that be with a pack.

"I'm sorry, I'm not even part of your pack plus it's fun being rogue." I smiled slightly trying to leave. Avoiding the eye contact she was desperately trying to make.

"It can't be much fun on your own." I feel a familiar pang in my stomach.

"No, I'm happier alone." it was obvious I was trying to prove that to myself and not Lacey.

"Actually, I'll think about coming okay?" Lacey nodded a smile creeping on her face as she walked away. I drove home, getting inside felt like such a relief. I lay on my mattress that was in the living room still. I wasn't unhappy alone, so why do I feel like I should go with them?
