It was a dark night,
a kid cried a lot high and dry,
for he didn't know why it happened,
perhaps he sensed something terrible to happen.

The grandpa laying in bed came to know,
he inquired the kid what's going on,
the kid never knew the answer,
perhaps he wanted a last apology.

Perhaps the kid wanted to show his gratitude,
perhaps the kid knew what is going to happen,
perhaps he never knew it would happen tonight,
perhaps he kept it for tomorrow.

The grandpa asked the child a promise,
"No weeping from now!"
so the promise was made,
the kid hugged the old man.

Perhaps the grandpa knew what the kid knew,
perhaps he didn't wanted him to go sad,
the kid was sent to sleep for night after six dark bright months of service,
but who knew it was the last time the inseparable duo of the two was on.

The old man apologized to everyone in family,
but when the turn of the kid came he was nowhere to be found,
for he was sent to sleep,
he was somehow awakened from a whisper.

The kid walked towards the grandpa in the crowded room filled with family,
the grandpa apologized,
but the grandson saved it for next day,
he went to the sleep once again.

The grandpa asked for a cup of tea,
the order was made,
he took a last cup of tea,
bid his son a goodbye and left in peace.

Everyone was there sad and crying,
but the kid was left high and dry,
for he couldn't do what he wished for one last time,
the kid went in darkness of pain and wry,
but the promise was made so he never cried.

The grandad was buried,
so was the soul of the kid who died the day his grandpa did,
the world next day saw a kid angry for life,
but deep down he just begged for a meet one last time.

For the gratitude he couldn't show,
perhaps for the sorry he never could,
perhaps the child that day vowed never to be attached again,
the pain of losing someone perhaps not always comes from a lover.

But the grandpa was gone,
so was the kid,
a promise was made to never kick,
perhaps the kid just needed an assurance.

Perhaps the kid wanted someone who knew,
Perhaps he had his grandpa always by his side,
perhaps there was a hidden promise which was meant to hide,
perhaps the kid never returned,
perhaps he chose to be dead,
perhaps he believed a night would come,
a night when he could finally meet the old man one last time.
