It was a pretty boring October night. V, who was in a bad mood for some reason, was reading a random book she got when she raided the mall while N, sitting on the floor, was making some dad jokes to annoy V, since he had nothing better to do.
"What do we call a fake noodle?" "I don't know!" "An impasta! Haha!" N didn't really think the joke funny, but he let out a fake laugh to anger V even more. "N, quit it!" she yelled, throwing a branded pen at him.
N blew out a sigh and stared at the calendar suspended on the wall. It was the 30th of the month. Tomorrow would be the last day of October.
That date strongly reminded N of something, but he couldn't quite place his finger on it. Closing his eyes, he ran through his database until...
HALLOWEEN !!!! A HUMAN TRADITION PERFORMED ON THE 31TH OF OCTOBER!!!
Not bothering with the historical facts or anything, he started screaming excitedly like a child, a cute smile on his face.
V, visibly annoyed by his chirping, threw away her book. "WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU SERIAL DESIGNATION N?" she vociferated.
"Okay V, don't fret, I know this is genius but.. HALLOWEEN!!" he seemed on cloud nine. "What the frick?" "A human tradition where people go trick or treating!! I mean, not that we eat but.. we could still try it out! C'mon!!"
Dragging V by the hand, he got out of the landing pod, deploying his wings behind him, all unaware of V's blushing in the back.
Together, they flew to the bunker and, still not daring to question him, V followed him to the Doormans' apartment, the duo earning itself strange looks from the workers around.
N's mind was buzzing with excitement. Uzi sure was going to like the idea!! He knocked cheerfully on the door once, but there was no answer. Twice, and still nothing. At some point, he believed Uzi to be outside when the door suddenly opened.
"Bite me! Oh hi N! Hi V." She seemed a bit confused and practically in a bad mood but she let her friends in.
"Whoa, sup Uzi?" N asked, feeling playful. "Just some group project with Lizzy and some other brat," she said, leading them to her room.
The desk was a real mess. Three piles of homework, her headphones laying in a corner of it, pens and pencils and a notebook open at a page where things like "I hate doors," "bite me" and "school sucks" were scrambled on it.
N knew better than to info dump Uzi right then, so he hesitatingly pulled her into a hug, hoping he didn't screw things up.
Uzi, a bit shocked at first, hesitated for a moment before burying her head in his coat as his hands slowly slided to her waist, his head on top of hers. When they pulled apart, blush was covering their visors, but they both tried to ignore it, a shy smile drawing on their lips. Good job N, you cheered her up.
"Sooo, now that you seem to be better, I think we can go straight to the point." "Which is.." "We're celebrating Halloween tomorrow!"
The very thought of that made N smile and jump up and down like a little child."It's a human tradition that's practiced on the 31th of October. Some things people do during the D-Day are trick or treating, scaring others, exploring abandoned places, carving pumpkins, or telling each other scary stories by the fire!" N clarified in one breath.
Uzi seemed a bit hesitant about it, and N worried she might not accept. But in the end, she agreed on coming along and N interiorly cheered about it. The three of them would finally get to spend some quality time together!
On the 31th October's night, the male disassembly drone lead his two friends to the mall, where a few workers were hanging out.
"Okay, what do you wanna disguise as?" N asked as they were walking around, not looking for anything specific just yet.
