Marinette awoke to total darkness and two sad Kwami.
“I’m so sorry Marinette!” Tikki squeaked, flying to hug my face.
“Sorry kit” Plagg added, “This is the best we could do.”
“Best you could do? What did you do? What happened”
“Well, Marinette!” Tikki said “Agreste may have traded your life for the health return of his wife, but that wording leaves a lot of wiggle room!”
“Technically” Plagg deadpanned, “you’re dead.”
“Wha—!”
“BUT! Your soul still exists, so we figured we’d just cram you in another body, and look at that, a loophole.”
“What Plagg means to say” Tikki said, glaring at her counterpart, “is we love you Mari, and we want you to survive.”
“Plagg, Tikki, I—”
“Nope, don’t interrupt.” Plagg said “We only have so long before you act like Squeeze Cheese and are placed in your new body. Hummm, cheese…”
“Don’t worry! Plagg was being metaphorical!” Tikki squeaked, watching her rapidly paling face “Getting back on track, Marinette, Stinky Sock, you will be reborn, likely as a baby, possibly as someone waking from a coma, in a different world. Due to your exposure to the miraculous and position as a True Cat, you will also have some traits from us! Isn’t that exciting Marinette! You’ll be able to purr, will always land on your feet, have night vision, enhanced strength, and will have my luck!”
“Careful with that luck, kid” Plagg added “I may sound good, but bad luck will be attracted to you in the hope of evening things out.”
Suddenly, there was a sucking feeling on Marinette’s soul.
“It’s happening!” Tikki squealed “You’re being born into your new life!”
Tikki lied, it felt like how one would imagine Squeeze Cheese would feel.
