THE RED KING◽️. #mature audiences only.
As I left Felix's quarters, I knew my next destination. Jacaerys was still here, housed in one of the royal guest chambers, and there were matters to discuss before he departed for Dragonstone. The proposal he had made yesterday lingered in my mind, a promise of alliance and unity that could change the fate of our kingdoms. The weight of that decision, and the implications it carried, was not lost on me.
I made my way through the winding corridors of the palace, the opulence and grandeur a stark contrast to the burden of responsibility I now carried. Guards nodded respectfully as I passed, and servants hurried about their duties, the morning light casting long shadows in the ancient halls.
Arriving at Jacaerys' chamber, I paused for a moment, collecting my thoughts. The door was guarded by two of my own men, who stepped aside as I approached. I knocked lightly, and a moment later, the door opened to reveal Jacaerys, already dressed and looking as regal as ever despite the early hour.
"Good morning, Your Highness," I greeted him, stepping into the room. "I hope you found your accommodations comfortable."
"Good morning, Your Majesty," Jacaerys replied, a hint of a smile on his lips. "Yes, they were more than adequate. I appreciate your hospitality."
We stood in the room, a moment of silence stretching between us. The reality of our discussion yesterday seemed even more significant in the light of day. Jacaerys gestured to a pair of chairs by the window, and we both took a seat, the early morning sun casting a warm glow over us.
"I wanted to speak with you before you depart," I began, my tone serious. "The proposal you made yesterday is not one I take lightly. An alliance between Aurea and Dragonstone would be powerful, but it is also a significant commitment."
Jacaerys nodded, his expression equally serious. "I understand, Your Majesty. This is not just a political maneuver; it is a pledge of loyalty and support. Queen Rhaenyra and I believe that with Aurea's strength and our mutual interests, we can secure a future that benefits both our realms."
"I believe in the potential of our alliance," I said, meeting his gaze. "But there are still details to be discussed, terms to be agreed upon. Our kingdoms are both proud and independent. The people of Aurea will need to see the value in this union, just as much as your people will."
Jacaerys leaned forward, his eyes earnest. "I am committed to making this work, Mylo. I know that the circumstances of our meeting and the proposal might seem sudden, but I am willing to do whatever it takes to prove my sincerity and the benefits of our alliance."
I studied him for a moment, seeing the determination in his eyes. There was a sincerity to his words that resonated with me. The stakes were high, but the potential rewards were even higher.
"Very well," I said finally. "We will proceed with the negotiations and formalize the terms of our alliance. And I will make the necessary arrangements for your journey back to Dragonstone. But know this, Jacaerys: this alliance must be built on trust and mutual respect. Anything less, and it will not succeed."
Jacaerys nodded, a small smile returning to his face. "Agreed, Your Majesty. I look forward to the future we will build together."
With that, we rose from our seats, a newfound understanding and respect between us. As I escorted him to the courtyard where his dragon awaited, I felt a sense of anticipation for the challenges and opportunities that lay ahead. The path before us was uncertain, but it was one we would walk together, forging a new destiny for our kingdoms.
