Aaliyah's POV:

Saturday:

"Hey Mrs. Jones! How's your husband feeling? Any better?" I question Mrs. Miranda Jones, the owner of my favorite local grocey store. Her husband has been going through chemo because he has lung cancer. I'll never smoke. Everytime Dementria and I come to the store we each leave Mrs. Jones a one thousand dollar tip to help pay for her husbands chemo therapy.

" The doctors say that he may need a lung transplant dear. The chemo isn't doing much for him." She sighs, the sadness clear in her tone. " I'm sorry for all the money you girls wasted trying to help us."

" Don't apologize Mrs. J, it's not a problem." My cousin Dementria, says as I nod my head before giving Mrs. Jones a tight hug and walking off to the candy aisle.

Dementria and I are having a movie night tonight. It's 3:39 right now, we are going to start at 5 and stay up all night so we can watch as many movies as possible. Though I don't think D will make it that long. We plan to order tons of food and buy a bunch of candy to snack on during the movies. I'm so excited. Dementria and I have no friends to do this with, so it's just been an us thing for as long as I can remember. Though I think it would be fun to have other people there with us.

As Dem and I walk through all the aisles just messing around with one another, throwing whatever looks good into the cart, I bump into a tall and hard figure.

" Ow. I'm so sorry I wasn't paying attention." I apologize, rubbing my forehead with the palm of my hand. I back up a couple feet and look up at the man I ran into. He has dark, short hair, and a neatly trimmed beard. His dark blue eyes looking sadly into my green ones. He's gotta be at least 9 inches taller than me

" It's whatever." He says gruffly shoving his hand into the pockets of his dark green hoodie.

I look over at D and and say, " ¿Podemos invitarlo a una noche de cine? se ve solo y triste." I look back over to him to make sure that he hasn't moved, and to my surpise, he hasn't. He's just staring at me with his eyebrows pinched together in confussion. I give him a wide smile before turning back to Demetria.

( Can we invite him to movie night? He looks sad and lonely.)

" Claro, no me importa. Pregúntale si quiere traer a un amigo. Puede que se extrañe si dos mujeres desconocidas le invitan a ir a su apartamento." She shrugs, so I smile in response and turn back to him.

( Sure, I don't care. Ask him if he wants to bring a friend though. He may be weirded out if two strange women ask him to their apartment.)

" Would you like to join us for a movie night? Before you say no cause we are strangers and we probably seem weird asking you this, I'm Aaliyah Lopez and she's Dementria Martinez. We have annual movie nights every Saturday. It's tradition." I shrug, waiting for an answer.

" No."

"Yes."

"No."

oh.

" Please. You look lonely and depressed and if you want you can bring a friend. We would gladly go pick him up. Or her. Or they. We don't judge." I shurg, hoping he has friends cause if not that's pretty rude.
