"Katuya—I need to talk to you real quick!" Kamiwaii said nonchalantly as he stood at her desk.

Nurse Katuya weakly smiled then gestured over to an empty chair. "Take a seat, Kami!"

Kamiwaii sat down cautiously, holding on to the arms of the chair with great force after settling. "It's about Dr. Wonk..."

Her eyes widened, certain of what he was about to say. "Don't tell me that this has to do with him!"

"He's dead, Katuya!"

Nurse Katuya let out a sharp gasp. "Did he..."

Kamiwaii nodded. "Yes, he killed himself!"

Her eyes started to water as she began to choke on her own words. "Wha—what did he say before he—he..."

"Do you know about the dormant gene, Katuya?" Kamiwaii questioned.

"Dormant gene? ...Like the hidden rank? I've only heard about it in theory, but—what are you getting at, Kami?"

"So you mean to tell me that you worked under Dr. Wonk for years, but he never told you about the XXX rank... the Kage King?"

Nurse Katuya let out a long sigh. "He didn't let me in on much, only told me what he wanted me to know. There's only one thing... one person, I can even remotely remember him ever talking about..."

"My father?" Kamiwaii said nonchalantly.

"Your father?" Katuya's face mugged in disbelief and suspicion. "You mean your father is Wanye Mashita?"

Kamiwaii remained silent, allowing his eyes to speak for him.

Nurse Katuya scoffed. "So you're telling me that this XXX Rank is a real thing, that this Kage King actually exists? That the Board is actually holding people captive because of their abilities?"

"Not the Board, Katuya. The PSA, they tricked the Board into capturing clairvoyants to drain people of the gene, their functions—"

"—turning the remaining remnants into weapons..." Nurse Katuya interjected.

Kamiwaii smirked before throwing his hands up in confirmation. "So you do know what's going on?"

"I mean, I'm not oblivious, Kamiwaii. I've heard the stories from other students of Wonk's, just not from him personally. I mean... the only reason Wonk would ever go this far — as to taking his own life — is if... are you a... do you have..."

Kamiwaii's eyes darkened, confirming any suspicion that still lingered in Nurse Katuya's mind.

Nurse Katuya sat up in her seat. Her eyes filled with concern and determination. "Kami, I'm gonna tell you this one time and one time only. You have to play it safe, you can't allow them to find out about any of this. I'll deal with Dr. Wonk's remains, but if they catch you, there's no telling what they would do to you."

Kami smirked as he kissed his teeth. "The Kage King and his minions or the PSA?"
