"𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐉𝐎𝐈𝐍𝐄𝐃 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐕𝐎𝐋𝐋𝐄𝐘𝐁𝐀𝐋𝐋 𝐂𝐋𝐔𝐁?" your mom asked, making sure she heard you correctly.

for once, you had woken up early enough to see her off to work. it was around 5:45am and you were about to leave the house to go to morning practice.

"yes, i'm the manager for the boys team." you explained to her. she nodded, a smile slipping onto her face.

"good. colleges love it when you show signs of leadership and teamwork." your smile faltered ever so slightly and your mom seemed to notice the sad glint that flashed in your eye. "y/n, baby, i know you miss art, i'm sorry you had to give it up."

"it's fine." you reassured her, although you were sure you didn't sound convincing at all. "you're right, if i'm going to get into a good college then a manager position will be useful." you painted a smile onto your face.

you checked the time. "i should go, or else i'll be late." your mom nodded.

"have a good day, sweetheart." you waved goodbye and began walking to the train station. you stood on the platform, looking around at all the other people alongside you. they all looked middle aged and exhausted, apart from one.

the brunette from the volleyball team.

he looked a little sleepy, as he brought his hand up to his mouth to cover a yawn. you didn't want to be caught staring so you looked away and looked down at your phone.

your train pulled in and you stepped on, sitting down on one of the empty seats. the train filled up quickly and to avoid the noise, you plugged your headphones in immediately.

the train journey was around twenty minutes so you decided to kill some of the time by looking at your messages. it was then, you noticed you were added to a group chat. makki must've added you. you rose an eyebrow at the name. volleybros. it took everything in you not to cringe at the name.

you spent the rest of the time zoning out, allowing yourself to daydream. you didn't have much time for that anymore, so you liked to let your mind run lose whenever you could.

the train pulled into your stop, and by muscle memory you got up from your seat and began walking to the door, even though your head was still partially in the clouds. you didn't fully register where you were walking into you collided into a firm surface.

"my apologies. i wasn't paying attention." you quickly apologised, bowing your head. you slowly looked up to see who you had bumped into. the tall brunette boy looked down at you, his eyes slightly widened.
