Megan~

"Okay... Wine, check. Charcuterie, check. Hair, check. Breath?" Megan checked her breath, "check." She smiled at herself in the downstairs mirror. Dressed in simple leggings and a hoodie, she was excited to have her first date with Normani. This was her taking things slow and she was actually ready to see how far they could go. A lowkey, in house date was better than dressing up and doing something formal. She hated dinners for first dates and really didn't want to go out and do anything else, especially since the two of them practically knew one another pretty well as it is.

Megan picked up the bag with the goodies inside and made sure to slip her phone into her sweater pocket. As she opened the door to leave out, she remembered that Akira was still upstairs. She had come home from school earlier and went straight up to her room without a word. This would be day 4 that the two of them have not spoken to one another. Megan sighed and closed the door back. She went upstairs to Akira's room and knocked on the door, entering after she heard a very faint 'come in'.

"Hey... I'm going over to Normani's for our movie date."

Akira's eyes left her laptop and she cut them at her mother. "Okay."

"I want to talk to you about what happened a few days ago." Megan stepped into her room and sat on the bed.

The young girl sighed and closed her laptop, sitting up against the headboard. "I've been meaning to come to you about it actually, but I wasn't sure if you were ready to speak to me. This is the longest you've gone without acknowledging me after one of our arguments."

"This wasn't like any other argument that we've had Akira. I want you to know that I was, and still am, extremely hurt by what you said. I understand you don't like the idea of me moving on from Beyoncé, but it was going to happen. Everything may be moving too fast for you, which is understandable, but you don't get to hurt the people who care about you most because you aren't ready to move on. No one is forcing you to do anything you don't want to do. You will never have to like me, or anyone that I date, but you need to have some respect for the adults around you. We aren't out to get you and in no way, shape, or form am I trying to replace your mom or forget about her. No one could ever replace her. What I am trying to do, is create a fresh start for us and not let her death consume our lives and what we do from this point forward. She is gone. I know it's very hard to accept, but the world does not stop turning because one person got off."

"I'm sorry for what I said to you. I didn't mean it at all. I just said what I thought would hurt you in the moment the way what you said hurt me. I understand my mom is never coming back, I just can't seem to move on the way you can."

"You don't have to. Everyone moves at their own pace, okay? A very big piece of you is gone and you have the space and support to take as long as you need to grieve. There's no time stamp on. You move when you're ready."

Akira nodded with tears streaming down her face. Megan wiped them away and kissed her daughters forehead. "Do you think you'd want to start therapy again? If you feel like it doesn't help this time then we can find something else, but I'd like you try again."

"Okay."

"Okay?" Megan was shocked by her answer

"I'll try again mom. I really don't want to hurt you anymore, I'm ready to heal and I'm so sorry for everything." Akira hugged Megan and Megan wrapped her arms around her, embracing her in a much needed hug. She loved and cherished the moments with her daughter when she was sweet to her, because at any given point, she could receive the sour side of Akira.

"It's okay. I'm sorry too. Sometimes we both have the tendency to say things we don't mean."

"I know you didn't mean it. I love you."
