I was glum on the ride to the mansion. Seth didn't speak either, probably knowing I wanted the silence.

Of course I still had dinner to do before I got to go to sleep. Thankfully nothing crazy happened. Just grams asking another school and how riding Percy was going.

I was in my pj's going over my essay before bed when there was a knock at the door.

"Come in!!!" I called out.

Aunt Rebecca walked in through the door, "how's it going?"

"Fine"

Aunt Rebecca sat on the bed. "Anything you want to talk about?"

"No, I'm good" I turn my attention back to my essay.

"I may not be a mom, but I grew up with yours. I know when someone's off" Aunt Rebecca says. "So what's wrong?"

"I..." I trailed off. I had no idea where to start.

When I didn't answer she asks, "is there some drama going on that I don't now about?..." then she seems to recall something. "Boys?"

Thank goodness she didn't guess murder. Or mom. "Maybe."

"You haven't been saying anything about that boy you'd been hanging out with. Luke was it?" She asks. I still hadn't told her I'd stopped speaking to him...

"We got into a fight... we moved on" I say.

"Believe it or not I had these problems when I was your age. That was all before I met your uncle..." Rebecca snuggles up beside me.

"What was he like?" I ask.

Rebecca lets out a breath thinking, "he was... smart, kind, and... very stubborn. So much that we'd get into a fight over something so simple as if a dish was one shade off from the rest. Of course it always ended up in laughter... and it was an even match on who won... but we loved each other. Maybe if we waited a few more years before marrying then things could have been different..."

"What did happen?" I ask. Mom never told me and I'd never had the guts to ask. "If you're okay talking about it" I quickly add.

"He got a chance to take a higher job in his company that he worked for, and I wanted to stay with your mom... one thing lead to another and we got divorced..." A single tear went down her face before she quickly wiped it away. "Now your dad... he and your mom were a sight to see."

"And what were they like?" I ask.

"They... met during their school years... like me and my ex husband. They were inseparable. They did everything together. You know, she's the reason she started the horse reserve with his company?" Rebecca says.

"No... I didn't..." I'd never known anything about dad.

"Anyways, enough dwelling on the past. Mr. Robinson says you were here to go through Tory's old things?" She asks. "Find what you were looking for?"

I shake my head, "no..." Then an idea came to my head. "You wouldn't by any chance know where mom's silver jewelry box would be? I didn't see it in the boxes."

Aunt Rebecca froze. "The one with the rose?"

"Yes..." I say.

Rebecca looks away before sighing. "She'd always said to wait. For her eighteenth birthday Rebecca..." she mumbled to herself. "Don't tell her until then..."

"Tell me what?" I ask.

My Aunt took a deep breath, "come. It's time I told you the truth. All of it."
